In 2015, its operating company, LinkSure closed its A round funding of USD $52 million, and became a unicorn company in the mobile internet industry.[17] In May 2015, LinkSure bought the domain name wifi.com and established a branch in Singapore to expand its overseas services. WiFi Master was launched worldwide, rapidly gaining popularity in Southeast Asia.[18] [19]

I find that a client in the other side of the house (same floor) can not connect. On the other hand, when my Ubuntu box is in client mode it can connect to an AP of the same distance. It seems to me that the card has some limitation when in master mode.

When your wireless card is in master mode it acts as an access point and it actively transmits a signal. When your wireless card is in client mode or managed mode then it listens to signals and tries to match a suitable one. Usually wireless cards built-in into devices like laptops are limited in signal strength either in the hardware or in the software and they are tiny and lack an antenna of a reasonable size. Regular consumer routers usually are not limited in signal strength or are limited in a wrong way because they're built in a different country and they do have a big antenna. All this allows consumer routers to produce a stronger signal and their range is larger. So your observation is pretty normal. Also there are certain problems regarding the wireless frequency and the type and number of other wireless networks in the area.

Hey,

I'm trying to use my old TP-Link TL-WR1043ND as a client, that connects to my local wifi and then "repeats" (masquerades and sends a new wifi) to other clients.

The connection to my home wifi works very well and is relatively stable, however the master wifi doesn't start no matter how long i wait.

What could be the reason for this behaviour?

I attached the client and master setup and my firewall settings, so maybe someone can find the bug here.

All right, you both were right.

My fault was to not check if the wifi was actually there, i just relied on the wireless tab.

But now that i connected with my phone to the router the AP (master) is active and under associated stations the Master-Wifi is listed.

So everything works again!

A bit of a strange issue here. I have BT Whole Home WiFi (white discs) installed with all 4 discs using Gbit ethernet backhaul (with one via homeplug adapter). The master disc is plugged into the (non-BT) router and serves the TV, Apple TV, etc. over 5GHz WiFi. These devices are all within 1m of the master disc.

After a period of between one to six weeks, the master disc stops accepting 5GHz clients. All the 3 other discs still are happy to access 2.4 & 5 GHz clients but the master disc stubbornly only accepts 2.4GHz. The consequence of this is that the TV, etc. either connects to a (remote) disc over 5GHz or falls back to 2.4GHz. This make the streaming experience (NetFlix, etc.) much slower.

Looking at the log for the master disc, I can see the transition from a mixture of "IF[5G]:STA" and "IF[2.4G]:STA" records as new clients come and go, to a period where all you see is the 2.4GHz only client records e.g. "IF[2.4G]:STA". For the current period, this regression happened after 3 weeks.

Right so we need to get you into the local ip so we can get you into the simplest firmware mode

I am assuming you have local WIFI

please replace mywifissid and mywifipassword by your ACTUAL - case sensitive - credentials

No problems hooking up to my wifi (with the SSID and passwd)

Once I was able to connect via browser to the webUI with the admin/admin and operate basic movements, etc.

Several days later after setting up in a more permanent operating location, the webUI and all other associations with the Ortur wifi interface failed, except for the ability to ping the IP showing connectivity and the occasional ability of LB to connect with the Ortur over wifi with the apparent buffering issues (1K characters then lockup)

This issue is a post of mine asking for info Ortur LM3 WiFi access

Can I reset, (enter my wifi info via USB console) and enter my routers IP (which line? $302/$312 or both) to get it on the local subnet or should I just try to change my router to allow the .5 default subnet?

Use the Settings app on each iPad to connect to the same wifi network. The wifi router you connect to does not have to be connected to the internet. The wifi network can also be a phone with the hot spot feature turned on.

I have a robot which establishes its own Wifi network called A and creates a ROS master via the network. I have a laptop connected to the wifi network and can access topics created by the robot. Meanwhile, the laptop is connected to another network called B via ethernet and the laptop creates its own ROS master to communicate with other machines in network B. I am trying to run ROS multimaster_fkie on the laptop but the two masters can not discover each other. I am assuming it is because one is on network A and another is on network B. Could anyone tell me how to establish connections between the two ros masters?

Losing any wifi network listed in Connections began with update to kernel 5.8 for me. It continued to fail in 5.9 and now 5.10. Boot back to either kernel 5.4 LTS or to Win10, and wifi functionality returned at full strength and performance.

I am having issues as well with an Intel AX200 card. Booting the 5.10 kernel results in wifi that has poor uplink speed. (6MB/s file copy to my home server). Booting the LTS kernel results in a file copy speed of about 30MB/s. Here are the log messages from 5.10
