Can we inspect a webpage in iPhone from Safari in MAC by connecting both MAC and iPhone to same network (Wifi) ? I could inspect by connecting with USB cable. But it would be more convenient over wifi as I will be able to debug remotely from a Windows machine that connects to the MAC over VNC.

An inspector has been having issues with submissions, this is over a hundred submissions into the same form. I am pretty sure that it is an issue with poor signal while it tries to submit a photo, but does anyone else know or have ideas I could fix?

Hi @MichaelSinclairStantec , i've seen this before and it's been related to poor or no signal as well as an offline/inbox issue. You might be able to search by the error code the survey is giving you but here's a few quick fixes that might help. One of the times I was able to resolve it was to have the field user download the app again, make sure the latest version was downloaded, and to plan on limiting photo size or by bringing a wifi-puck or hotspot to ensure connection and prevent loss. What version are you using and did the survey submission succeed when the user returned to wifi/office range or is it still stuck on the device?

If you have a rooted device, then download and install an ADB over wifi app from the Play Store. This will let you effectively enable the same ADB over network option you saw above. You can now skip to remote wifi debugging.

In my experience, Macs will give you a much better reading because they have a better quality wireless chipset and antenna than most cheap Windows PCs. If you are going to scan on a PC, just make sure you have a good wireless chipset on a high quality laptop or you use a high quality USB dongle so you get good accurate results. You'll get much more accurate scans and even be able to scan for other non-wifi interference with one of those special usb wireless dongles. The best one of those and the one we use for big site surveys is AirMagnet but that will set you back about $10,000.

You can get a WiSpy dongle to go with inSSIDer for a few hundred bucks. I haven't used it but that could be another solution if you have a windows laptop that doesn't have good wifi built in or you need to check other RF interference that is not wifi.

Much of the information in a wifi network signal is processed in the chipset, so the software on top never gets to see the messy, noisy signal that comes in on the aerial. Interference will have been filtered out by the time the software scanner gets any information.

The see the actual RF energy, you will need a specialist device - one that digitises the raw signal and make that available. The WiSpy is one of the devices that does this. I use an older version of the hardware (2.4Ghz only) and the Spectrum Tools under linux. This can give me a pretty good picture of actual RF signals, not just wifi.

More seriously, pick a couple of manufacturers who make kit you like and get them to do the survey for you, they will over spec it and almost certainly suggest more APs than you really need, but otoh, you have someone to report back to if they get it wrong. The issue with basic analysis is there are many factors not taken into account such as high bandwidth and then latency sensitive applications, do you have one or the other or a lot of both? Do you have areas where you need wifi but only 1 or 2 devices in that zone active at a time, such as a warehouse scanner, or are you covering a large meeting room where 50 users will want to check their email all together? The meeting room can probably be covered with a single AP, but chances are you need a couple and a controller to manage load balancing the devices. None of these things are covered with any basic software map or scan.
