Does the 23 model have a wifi hotspot to connect my phone and other devices to the vehicle's LTE signal? I found it in the 2021 model but the menu steps are different fromt what's available in mine and I don't see anything in the 23 manual

I'm trying to play a video game with my friends that requires a local wifi network that allows UDP broadcasts. The dorm wifi doesn't allow UDP broadcasts, so I'm trying to set up my laptop as a hotspot. Windows 10 by default allows you to share an internet connection over wifi, but you must have an internet connection to do so. Sharing the wifi connection results in a lot of problems such as constant disconnects, and I don't have access to an ethernet connection to share. Is there some way I can set up a wifi network without actually sharing an internet connection?

4.) After that run the command, netsh wlan start hostednetwork, to start the "Hotspot" broadcast. Right now you can play without internet connection after all devices connect. Remember to check IP addresses of all your individual devices in order to connect to each other. The hotspot's IP Address usually is "192.168.137.1".

Unless the mobile device has some kind of protection on it then it would have to be the network on the hotspot but since you tried different devices that seems less likely. Maybe try to reflash the RS2? I would send a full system report to support@emlid.com and they will get you taken care of. Make sure to keep us updated though.

Only way I can get it to work is,

turn off auto join on all other networks in iphones list

connect to RS2 hot spot

use rv2 or 3, select your stored, manually entered phone hotspot click join

do the mad race to turn on your phones hotspot

wait and hope it connects.

Could you clarify what model do you have? If you have iPhone 12 series, you need to enable Maximize compatibility option on its Personal hotspot page. This will switch its hotspot to 2.4 GHz and ensure connection to the device.

A rugged and sleek design is slim enough to fit in your pocket, yet tough enough to endure drops, dust, and water. With lightning-fast and secure 5G and 4G LTE speeds in over 135 countries worldwide, you can stay connected whether you're working from a local caf or streaming from the Eiffel Tower. But that's not all; with every Solis hotspot,we're thrilled to include our groundbreaking Lifetime Data plan.

Now included with every Solis hotspot, we are excited to introduce our game-changing Lifetime Data plan.

This revolutionary offering gives you seamless internet access with a minimum of 1GB of global data every month.

You cannot but there should not be a need to.

The hotspot should be dropped when you authenticate with your own WiFi.

(and even if not there is nothing you can do on that network except to authenticate with any of the networks in range - if you know their password only of course).

We make it easy to get online with an SPL HotSpot. If you have a Library card, you can check out a hotspot for free. Then use it to connect your tablet, laptop or other Wi-Fi-enabled device to 4G LTE and 3G networks. You can borrow an SPL HotSpot for 21 days.

There is no charge to borrow and use an SPL HotSpot. You can check out and use a mobile hotspot for free for 21 days, just like other Library materials. Hotspots are subject to the usual charges for lost materials. If you lose the hotspot or damage it beyond repair, we will charge a $90 fee to your Library account.

You can borrow an SPL HotSpot for 21 days. You can get free internet access with the hotspot during that time. There are many people waiting to borrow an SPL HotSpot, so please return the hotspot on time. The mobile hotspot will stop giving you access to the internet within 24 hours after the due date. You can renew a hotspot if no one else is waiting to borrow it. However, there is often a very long waiting list for hotspots. To renew a hotspot, log into your account or visit any Library location.

You can return the hotspot to any Library location or book return, just like other items. Please help us get the hotspot quickly to the next person waiting for it. You can do this by fully charging the battery before you return the hotspot. Also, please return the hotspot with all its original packaging and accessories.

You can use the hotspot to browse the internet and send email. You can even use it to call people with services like Skype, FaceTime, and WhatsApp. There are many ways the hotspot can help you connect with friends and family. One thing it cannot do, though, is support texting and SMS messaging.

The Library regularly assesses our hotspot devices and consults with our Internet Service Provider to offer the best hotspot service to our patrons. From time to time, we may upgrade our devices to reflect changes in the hotspot market. Updated instructions and links to device user manuals will always be included when a device is upgraded.

Because I was told a direct ethernet connection will be the fastest possible connection I'll get from this hotspot, equal to or greater than wifi - and just plugging in the ethernet cable doesn't do anything.

Got a new Nighthawk from AT&T, as well as a new plan that included buying this hotspot to replace a 6 mo. old AT&T hotspot,  in an attempt to improve my dismal connectivity speeds (downloads slower than 7 Mbs, as low as 1 Mbs). Troubleshot all kinds of things to get better speed with ATT tech support first - different browsers, rebooting everything, checking for speeds on iPhone, etc but no luck. Even with this new hotspot there was no change in throughput at all. The wifi works just like the hotspot it replaced.

I just got off a 2 hour and 40 minute phone call with Netgear (50 min on hold) and the tech was unable to diagnose how to do this seemingly simple task. He said it should connect automatically, but with wifi turned off and the ethernet cable plugged into the hotspot and my iMac (os10.14.5), I get "not connected to the internet". We tried connecting with my laptop without success, and some other things. Then he had me read off about every setting in my ATT control panel (apparently Netgear doesnt provide him with the resources techs need to view the settings a user views). But couldn't come up with an answer. He couldn't tell me if there was a setting in the Nighthawk device where I could manually force a switch from wifi to ethernet.

When I try to create a Hotspot with nm-applet, there appears no wizard (it should?) and I get a WEP-secured Network with my Hostname and a predefined password, but I am not able to connect with it. It shows up in my Android device, but when I try to connect with it (after entering the pw), nothing happens, the Hotspot dissapears after some seconds and I am not able to disable the hotspot within NM. I turn it off, but the slider automatically goes back to "on".

this method used to work, however I am not using it now as I am no longer using networkmanager, so I use the second method, however if you have followed all the steps exactly it should be working. Also I presume you are not connected to wifi before while creating hotspot.

Let's see from beginning.

1. Were you able to connect to wifi using networkmanager?

2. Did you disable NetworkManager.service before starting create_ap, as wifi may be controlled by networkmanger causing interference.

Yesterday I decided to bring this back to my apartment (as oppose to my office) and the Wifi hotspot works flawlessly. However, with the same configuration, when I bring it to the office, it does not operate.

Hi. I have tailscale running with an exit node on a raspberry pi in the UK. In Europe I have a TV which cannot install a tailscale app, so I thought I could use a Dell WYSE running Ubuntu. If I configured the Dell as a wifi hotspot, I thought I could connect my TVs to the wi-fi hotspot. I hoped by installing tailscale on the Dell I would be able to route all traffic back to the exit node running on the pi in the UK.

What I know

a) the exit node works perfectly since in Europe I can connect my phone via tailscale and the internet signal is from the UK

b) if I run, the Dell WYSE in Europe, and I connect my phone (SIM data switched off) to the hotspot signal I receive the internet. As soon as I activate using the use an exit-node option on the Dell, the phone remains connect to the hotspot wifi signal but the internet signal is blocked.

Thanks to the support of former Evanston mayor, Steve Hagerty, and the Good Neighbor Fund from Northwestern University, the Library was able to purchase these hotspots to meet the needs of residents throughout Evanston who do not have internet at home. ff782bc1db
