Neatly between the Devouring Dragon black hole, and the Solarium’s great system, The Wizard's Wife now lies. As big as a planet in its own right, the globe-like carcass of The Wizard's Wife floats quietly in open space, with metallic, scaly, and wooden pieces flaking off like onion skin. Once the property of an eccentric, powerful man who styled himself as either god or emperor, it’s now the ruined and picked over carcass of a massive chimera- a chimera once made of a luxury space cruiser and a battlecruiser.
Despite the relative slowness of its movement, the outside is littered with all sorts of space-designed weaponry, and a great deal of tied together wizards' wands to shoot various magic. Inside, the depths are deep, each layer a world within itself. The outer layer, a command center and launching point, with portals to other worlds and landing pads alike. The layer after that, a domestic garden. The layer after that yet more practicality, and the layer after that, another layer of fun. All to hide the glowing core within.
Centuries have passed since the mysterious disappearance of this god-emperor. Many have claimed credit to his disappearance- for example, the late queen of Lunata who had claimed she stabbed him through the throat in the human tradition, or the bold robot pirates of the ship Piezo, who claimed they electrocuted and raided his home, and that he was nothing more than rusty wire inside.
Calls have been coming from the hydraean Wizard's WIfe, that supposed god-emperor's luxurious ship on which he waged war and lived decadently. Every network imaginable has been reached- to the scrying bowls, to the neural networks, to radio waves, to the dimensions beyond our own. And didn’t, it was said, the Omniscient Orb live on board? A brain or presence so strong it could tell future, past, or present secrets even better than the best archive or surveillance system? Didn’t the Nexus Nitro live there too? So powerful, it could outenergize a black hole? And didn’t that mad god-emperor have significant wealth? Wasn’t it also stored on board, hoarded close in his paranoia?
Many have answered the call, thanks to greed and generosity, to nobility and ignobility, to an explorer’s mind, to an escape… What are you here for, traveler?
