Civil engineer graduate from La Sapienza university of Rome in 2019, Alessandra started her PhD in Understanding and Managing Extremes (UME) at IUSS Pavia in September 2019. She is part of the Nonstructural Elements Research Group at IUSS Pavia under the leadership of Prof. André Filiatrault. Her research focuses on optimization strategies to reduce seismic losses in a holistic way, considering both structural and non-structural elements. Her work involves investigating the seismic demand of nonstructural elements in post-tensioned timber frames.

Hamid began his Ph.D. studies in September 2020, and his research is focused on seismic soil-foundation-structure interaction in steel concentrically braced frames.

Yara started her Ph.D. studies in September 2018, and her research focuses on studying the seismic behavior of different controlled rocking masonry shear wall systems through dynamic testing and numerical modeling.

Lily started her MASc in Fall 2022 and has since transitioned to a PhD program. Her research focuses on creating design guidance to boost the implementation of controlled rocking braced frames in Canada. She also is looking into the performance of practical and easily constructed energy dissipation devices.

After completing her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and Management, Laura started her MASc at McMaster University in September 2022. Her research focuses on force transfer in timber beam-to-column joints with pre-engineered beam hangers. Her work involves quasi-static testing and numerical modelling, in partnership with the University of Northern British Columbia.
