Last updated: 2026-10-08
This privacy policy applies to the mobile app "Tile Kit: Home Screen Widgets" for Android:

The app is developed and operated by Kyu-Hee Jang (Google Play developer name: Global Utility App Maker).

OVERVIEW
Tile Kit does not require an account, and we do not sell personal information. You build widget designs from blocks (text, date, countdown, photo, checklist and battery) and place them on your Android home screen. Your designs, photos and widget settings are kept in the app's storage on your device. The app also uses Google services and an advertising mediation partner for analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and advertising.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
For each design the app keeps its name, size, colours, font, rows of blocks and the time it was last changed. Depending on the block, it keeps the text you type, a countdown date and label, checklist items and whether they reset daily, the photo the block shows, and what a tap does: open the design in the app, open a link you enter, or open another app you choose. For each photo the app keeps the photo file and its file name, size and checksum. For each widget you place, it keeps the widget's number, the design it shows and the checkmarks you tick on that widget. The app also keeps a list of IDs of deleted designs so that restoring an older backup does not bring them back; this list is kept without a limit. There is no fixed limit on the number of designs or placed widgets. The first time the app opens, it adds a few starter designs.
When you place a widget from the app, the app keeps a small record of the request (the design it is for and the widget numbers that already existed) so that it can link the new widget to that design when Android's launcher confirms the placement.
The app may also store basic operating information such as cached advertising settings and a cached More Apps list. If saved files cannot be read, the app does not overwrite them and asks you to retry.
The developer does not run a server that receives your designs or photos. The app reads developer-controlled advertising settings and a More Apps list from Google Cloud Firestore, but it does not upload your designs, photos, checklists or links. When you open "Other apps" in the menu, app icons are loaded from the web addresses in that list.
PHOTOS, INSTALLED APPS AND BATTERY
When you tap "Choose photo" in a photo block, Android's photo picker opens and only the photo you choose is given to the app. The app saves a resized copy (at most 600 pixels on the longest side, as a new JPEG file) in its own storage; your original photo is not changed. The picker may also leave a temporary copy in the app's cache, which the app does not delete; Android may clear it. Photo copies that no saved design uses any longer are deleted later, for example when the app starts or after you close the editor, unless some saved files cannot be read.
When you choose to open another app from a block, Tile Kit reads the list of apps on your phone that can be launched (their names and package names) to show it to you. Only the package name of the app you choose is saved in the design. To show battery blocks, the app reads the current battery level from Android. Neither the app list nor the battery level is uploaded.
HOME SCREEN WIDGETS
A placed widget shows the content of its design on your home screen, including text, photos, checklist items and countdowns, so anyone who can see your home screen can see them. Android updates widgets periodically (about every 30 minutes, and it may delay updates to save battery); tapping a widget's background refreshes it, and saving or deleting a design redraws the widgets linked to it. Ticking a checklist item on a widget saves the checkmark for that widget. A link you add to a block is opened by Android when you tap it on the widget. When you remove a widget from the home screen, the app removes its link to the design and its checkmarks.
PERMISSIONS
The app does not ask for any permission while you use it. It does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, Bluetooth, health data, or notifications; photos and files reach the app only through the Android pickers described above. It uses internet access and the Android advertising ID permission for the services below, and vibration for short haptic feedback.
ANALYTICS, CRASH REPORTING, AND ADS
Google Firebase Analytics may process limited app-usage and technical information, such as app launches, a screen view when the app starts, opening the More Apps page from the menu, tapping Review in the menu, whether a review request from the menu or the exit dialog was attempted, unavailable or failed, ad revenue events (ad format, value, currency and precision), app version, device type, and app-instance identifiers. These events do not include design names, text, photos, checklist items or links.
Google Firebase Crashlytics may process crash reports and related technical information needed to diagnose app problems.
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. A banner may appear at the bottom of the Designs tab, and an ad may appear in the exit dialog. Full-screen ads may appear when the app opens or returns to the foreground, and occasionally after you save a design. The app does not start a full-screen ad while a design is open in the editor, while the menu or exit dialog is open, or while an export, import or widget placement is in progress. AdMob may also request ads from the InMobi mediation network. Google and InMobi may process advertising identifiers and device, app, consent, network, and ad-performance information to provide and measure ads, and may use an IP address to estimate an approximate location even though the app has no location permission.
ADVERTISING CHOICES
When the app starts, Google's consent message (UMP) is checked first. Where consent is required (for example in the EEA and UK), personalized advertising stays off unless your choice allows it, and if the consent result does not allow ad requests, the app does not request ads. Where no consent message is required, ads may be personalized. If the consent message cannot be loaded, the app still requests non-personalized ads, personalized advertising stays off, and the "Privacy choices" option is not shown until the app is started again. Where Google requires it, the app's menu shows "Privacy choices", which reopens the consent message so you can change your advertising choice. The app works whatever you choose.
STORAGE AND YOUR CONTROL
You can delete a design on the Designs tab; for about ten seconds Undo brings it back as a new copy and relinks its widgets. Widgets that showed a deleted design ask you to choose another design. "Reset checks" on the Placed tab clears the checkmarks of a placed widget. Removing a widget from the home screen removes its link and checkmarks. You can also clear the app's data in Android settings or uninstall the app. Local data may be included in a Google or device backup depending on your backup settings; uninstalling normally removes the active copy but may not remove an older backup.
"Export design" (on a design card) and "Export backup" (on the Settings tab) create a .tilekit file in the app's cache and open the share sheet. "Export design" contains that design and the photos it uses; "Export backup" contains your current designs, the photos they use and the deleted-ID list, but not your placed widgets or their checkmarks. The app deletes its cache copy after the share sheet closes, and it clears its export and import folder each time it starts. Where you send or save the file is your choice, and the app does not delete copies kept elsewhere. "Import design / Restore backup" opens the file picker; the files you choose are copied into the app's cache, read, and then deleted (a copy can remain if the app is closed during an import), and their designs are merged with yours (deleted designs stay deleted).
Because we do not receive your designs or photos, we cannot delete them for you; the controls above remove them from the app. For questions about data processed by Google or InMobi, or to ask us for help with a privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Data processed by third parties is retained according to their service settings and policies. We use these services under their applicable terms, and we ensure that third-party service providers with whom we share user data provide the same or equal protection of that data as stated in this policy.

SECURITY
Your designs and photo copies are kept in the app's private storage on your device, which the operating system protects from other apps; they are not separately encrypted by the app, so protect your device with a screen lock. Content shown in widgets is visible on your home screen. Apart from the limited analytics events described above and the files you choose to share, the app does not upload your saved data. Communication between the app and Google services and the ad mediation partner uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what the app collects to what is described in this policy.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Widgets may update late because Android limits background updates, so dates, countdowns, battery levels and daily checklist resets on the home screen may be out of date until the widget refreshes. Only add photos and links you have the right to use, and avoid putting private information in widgets that others can see.
CHILDREN
The app is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
CHANGES
We may update this policy if the app or its services change. The date above shows the latest revision.
