Virtual Homeschool Portfolio Reviews:
I offer zoom homeschool portfolio reviews for the State of Maine as a current certified teacher. Maine Law states that on or before September 1st a homeschooled student must provide an annual form of assessment. One form of assessment is: "A review and acceptance of the student's progress by an identified individual who holds a current Maine Teacher's Certificate"
What is required for the review?
The student needs to show progress in:
English
Language Arts
Math
Science
Social Studies
Physical Education
Health Education
Library Skills
Fine Arts
Maine Studies (one grade level from 6th-12th)
Proficiency in computers (one grade level from 7th to 12th)
How is progress shown?
There are many ways to show progress in each of the areas of study. Some students have a physical portfolio of all the work they have completed throughout the year, some students have digital highlights of their work, and some students visually or verbally explain their progress. The great thing about homeschooling is there are many ways to show this.
How long and how much is a session?
A session can be up to an hour long depending on what you and your child wish to present. It costs $35 for a session with Venmo as of the 2023-2024 school year. At the end of the session, you will receive a downloadable PDF letter from me that states your child has met the requirements for growth in the required areas.
