The Land of the Giants

The story begins with a proud warrior by the name of Octavio and his crew on a journey. Octavio had heard of a foreign place by the name of The Land of the Giants. He and his crew took four days to arrive there by ship. The only knowledge Octavio had of the Giants was that they were known to be aggressive and that they did not believe in labor. He also knew that they spent the majority of their time in caves and they had no general regard for their neighbors. The lifestyle of a giant did not require them to have transportation. Octavio noticed when he arrived how fertile the land they were on was and that a place like this would yield great harvests. Octavio told his crew, "The day to reap the rewards of our hard work is coming." in order to raise their spirits.

The arrival at the land of the giants took many days and it was already pitch black, so Octavio and the crew decided to sleep where they landed. Octavio and his crew woke up ready to explore and knowing they needed food decided to hunt the foreign lands.

While exploring they noticed a herd of wild boar and soon after the herd had noticed Octavio and his crew. The herd of boar started charging Octavio but his crew acted swiftly each procuring a kill from the herd. Octavio gad gave thanks to the gods since they had procured food for the next three days. Octavio and his crew feasted and drank until it was time to sleep.

The next morning Octavio called upon the sun god to guide him to some sort of treasure. As Octavio began to explore the lands even further than before they heard a peculiar noise up ahead. The noise was coming from the cave at the end of the shore and it was a snore like no other. When they arrived at the entrance of the cave they noticed a sleeping giant and just behind him a treasure chest filled with gems and gold.

Octavio knew he and his crew could not pass this opportunity. The first thing Octavio knew he would be one of the first known people to slay a Giant. Octavio also knew that the number of jewels and gems in that chest could hold his crew over a lifetime. Octavio was a very smart warrior and knew this kind of battle would require careful planning. But he also knew that since giants have no regard for their neighbors that this battle would be easy since it is his crew against one Giant.

Octavio took the next week to monitor the giant’s movements and learn when he was most vulnerable. They witnessed that the rumors of the Giant seemed to be true. He and his crew watched day by day how the Giants found no regard for the other. They did everything on their own and were truly solitary beasts. He and his crew set a date which he knew the gods would give him the most favor. He decided in approximately two nights on Sunday, the day associated with the Sun God Sol that they would take on this dangerous quest.

The night came and Octavio and his crew were ready to take on the giant. After carefully studying the giant’s behavior they knew he was most vulnerable right at dawn where he is deepest in his sleep. Octavio and his crew once again arrived a the cave entrance but this time prepared for battle. Becuause Octavio had planned for everything he felt as his quest would go without a hitch. He and his crew began approaching the Giant slowly but that was until a loud clap outside the cave had woken the Giant up. Octavio had not planned for this and knew and the crew were in trouble. Octavio sent five of his men to check out the noise outside the cave while he and the rest of his crew tended to the now obviously frustrated Giant.

Octavio began fighting with the Giant inside the cave losing crew members one by one as they had not prepared for splitting up the crew. Octavio screamed asking for an update as to what was going on outside but heard no response. Octavio knew he could handle the Giant from seeing his movements already and sent his last five members to go check out the outside of the cave and update him. As soon as the crew members went outside Octavio heard a loud scream. Coming through the cave entrance was another much larger Giant holding the limbs of his crew members.

Octavio was beyond shocked as everything he planned and considered to understand about the Giants seemed to be wrong. Octavio felt his life flash before his eyes and called upon the Sun God one more time to help him. Seconds later a flaming sword appeared before him by the name of Los and just before being pinned by two Giants the sword took a life of its own and singed both Giants into ash. Octavio ran outside the cave in order to see what was left of his crew. When he went outside what he realized was that someone had lured that other Giant to the cave. He saw large amounts of bait hidden around the base of the cave just hidden enough to not be noticed by an eager crew. Who or what was out to get Octavio and his crew ?
