Just wanted to see if anyone could help me. I have recently run into an issue where any browser I try on my PC (chrome, firefox, edge, Opera) is running extremely slow. The lag happens more often than not and is most noticeable on websites like YouTube(sometimes things load in just fine though), and I have no idea why since my SpeedTest is still showing 600+mbps upload and 500+mbps download(ethernet connection). I also pinged google in cmd and got a 0% packet loss and it was running at normal speed. My pc has hardware more than capable of browsing the web, and has never had any issue with loading pages or anything of that matter. I also have no issues on other programs that use the internet such as Discord or any games, I don't even notice any performance or speed loss whatsoever. Only when I open up a browser. Normal web pages usually only load a good bit slower than normal but things like YouTube take forever and sometimes just throw up a "Can't connect to the internet" message. A lot of times as well (on YouTube using Opera) when I click a video there is just a black screen with the loading circle in the middle, and sometimes refreshing does help and it instantly loads, but sometimes it doesn't do anything.

Update : Tried a different ethernet cable, still no help. I have also tested my laptop and my dad's pc (both running wireless connection), and they can run browsers fine, so it seems to be an issue with the ethernet specifically.

However, a few months back, my Brave browser started to lag consistently. Frame rate dropped exponentially and increased over the days I continued to use Brave. If the regular Dropbox client can upload at full speed on the system (which would rule out OS & ISP & hardware) vs browser client, then it wouldn't be any of those. Secondly, there are a multitude of posts about people using different browsers on different OS, so it's not the browser. Granted, there are probably edge cases where people have proxies, etc on their browser, but in general, limitatations are the result of programming into the software running thru the browser.

And I don't blame level 1/2/3 support either, the upper IT should be sending this information down to the personnel and stop wasting the paying client's time. If the files are indeed being hashed/compressed or other handling prior to upload, then yeah, slow death. Example - one single 4GB file I uploaded on Dropbox client (same system, same OS trollers) took less than 30 mins, browser version? 6 hours and counting...

Dropbox, come up with a solution and stop making the moderators post useless things like "turn your pc off and on" or "check the weather". You are getting millions upon millions a month for this, and there needs to be a viable solution for uploading using the browser.

The browser extension is unbelievably slow. It ALWAYS takes at least 1 full second to popup. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds. It is so sluggish that often I assume I missed clicking the correct spot and click again which makes it disappear as soon as it shows up, then I click again.

Let me make sure I understand the situation specifically: are you saying that this slowness is only when you're launching 1Password for the first time since login/restart/lock? Or does this happen every time you invoke the extension, even when (you're sure) the main 1Password app is already unlocked?

Earlier posters were referring to the 1Password extension in Safari. 1Password X does not exist in Safari, so I presume you're talking about Chrome here, or possibly Firefox? Can you clarify? In Safari, it's not possible to remove the extension by itself because in 1Password 7 for Mac, the Safari extension is part of the main 1Password app. In Chrome and Firefox, you can still remove the extension in the normal way: visit chrome://extensions or Add-Ons in Firefox, and disable, then delete, the 1Password extension. If you feel it's corrupted or outdated, do this, then quit the browser, restart your Mac, and when you're back at your desktop, visit our downloads page and download a new copy of the 1Password extension appropriate for your browser. Let us know how you get on. :)

Yes, I'm running Chrome. Firefox's "requires client" add-on no longer work at all is not found in the Mozilla add-ons. I'm running latest versions of the browsers (at least the auto-updater says so). I've also tried to restart my Mac every now and then.

Guys this is still a problem. I just upgraded from 1Password 6 to 7 (from purchased license to subscription trial period) and with the change the chrome plugin UI changed (assuming it's tied to the 1Password version somehow?) and it got significantly slower exactly what's described here. There's clearly a perf problem with the plugin (just google "1password chrome slow") that still hasn't been adressed in over a year. I REALLY used to like this product. For a long time you had the best password manager bar none. But you keep adding bloat (which seems to impact performance) and making the product and payment options more complicated ( -exactly-is-a-sign-in-address-and-what-is-it-used-for). 17dc91bb1f
