Sweetthing called upon Earth’s most powerful sorcerer to find a way to save the sharks and the rest of the Earthlings from the Martians’ tyranny. The sorcerer happened to be an ant by the name of Ala, a creature who had no bones herself. In order to save the sharks and take down the Martian army, Ala cursed every sharks’ descendants to be born without bones, and instead with cartilage. 

In due time, the Martians ate every boney shark there was to eat, and every shark left was made of cartilage. The Earthling army did not even have to fight the Martian army. They all died of calcium marphondulate deficiency within the week,  and every Earthling shark forever on has now been born without bones.
