Each of the series in this list has six or fewer episodes, which makes them short enough to binge in just one weekend. The stories and characters are unforgettable, so grab a bag of popcorn and start streaming. (Plus, don't miss the three bonus series at the end of the list that are more than six episodes but still bingeworthy on a long holiday weekend!)

Earlier this year, TiVo released the results of a function ga4_link121() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"default_event"}')) }survey that found more than 90 percent of respondents admit to function ga4_link122() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"default_event"}')) }binge-watching. The tongue-in-cheek report also found Breaking Bad to be the most binge-watched show ever.

But binge-watching has both TV producers and advertisers scared. Why? Because it lets you skip commercials. Unsurprisingly, marketers have been trying to find ways to insert those precious advertisements back into the viewing experience.

This week, marketing firm Annalect released the results of function ga4_link123() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"default_event"}')) }its own survey on binge-watching, and found TV viewers may not be as hostile to commercials as previously thought.

Sure, I can understand ads on free streaming platforms like YouTube, but binge-watching is predicated almost entirely on commercial-free, subscription-based platforms like Netflix, HBO Go, and Amazon Prime. Hulu Plus is an outlier, making you sit through ads despite charging an access fee. Perhaps it's no surprise that it has function ga4_link124() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"default_event"}')) }just 5 million subscribers, compared to the 35.7 million who have signed up for Netflix.

But here's where Annalect's study gets really freaky: 35 percent of these binge-watching aficionados actually admitted (presumably without an advertiser's gun to their heads) that ads provide a nice break during TV marathons.

Excuse me, but what? If you need an occasional break during a binge-watching session, just hit the pause button and contemplate the origins of the universe, or go make a sandwich. Do you really need to fill that gap with the colorful stimuli of a Swiffer commercial?

Not only will a smart TV make binge-watching easier for you, but the ability to control your TV while you're not home could potentially alleviate some separation anxiety for your dog. Turn on his or her favorite channel if you forgot to do so before you left, or switch the music from relaxing to sleep-inducing to reinforce a schedule.

A 2007 study led by Bath University explored the theory in the context of alcohol by interviewing young people who frequently binge-drink. The report is peppered with oxymorons that offer a fascinating insight into the complexity of hedonistic behaviour: 'controlled loss of control', 'disciplined drunkenness', 'calculated intoxication'.

Cameron is right to try to do something about the problem. Rather than take a punitive swipe at those who don't binge, though, he would be better advised to gain an empirical understanding of those who do. The theory may not be pretty, but it is there.

About the study: For this ranking TeraVolt looked at the performance (loading times, cross device usage, etc.), input (e.g. on screen keyboard) and usability (binge watching, accessibility, subtitles) as well as discovery (displaying relevant content, etc.), search and player (reels, voice, etc.) of Disney+ on the different systems. 006ab0faaa
