Term 5 2526 Herbert Morrison Newsletter Issue 69 Thursday 14th May 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Value of the Week is “Be Optimistic” — a wonderful reminder that a positive mindset can help us achieve amazing things. During assessment season especially, optimism encourages determination, resilience, and the confidence to keep going even when things feel challenging.
With this in mind, I would like to say a huge congratulations to Year 6, who approached assessment week with positivity, perseverance, and optimism shining through every day. We are incredibly proud of the mature and determined attitude they showed throughout the week — well done, Year 6!
As always, school life continues at a wonderfully busy pace, and it is hard to believe that Term 6 — the final term of this academic year — is nearly here. Time certainly flies when you are having fun! There is so much to look forward to next term, including Sports Day, Graduation celebrations, Wellbeing Week, exciting workshops, and even a special theatre performance for the whole school. Every week will bring new opportunities to learn, laugh, perform, compete, and celebrate together.
And speaking of celebrating talents… the Talent Show is fast approaching! Now is the perfect time to start practising, stay optimistic, be brave, and get ready to showcase your amazing skills. We cannot wait to see the creativity and confidence our children bring to the stage.
You will find all of the important Term 6 dates included in this newsletter to help everyone plan ahead for what promises to be a fantastic final term.
Finally, thank you for your continued support with school uniform expectations. Please ensure children are wearing school shoes rather than trainers with their uniform. We would also appreciate a quick check of jumper labels, as many names have faded in the wash and are becoming difficult to identify.
As always, we value positive partnerships between home and school. If you have a concern, please speak to your child’s Class Teacher in the first instance. If you are not happy with the outcome, please then speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team — myself as Headteacher, Mr Moorcroft (Deputy Headteacher), or Ms Roche (SENDCo). Equally, if you have something wonderful to share, we would love to hear that too! Celebrating successes and sharing positivity helps our whole school community continue to thrive.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and optimism — together we can make the final term of the year the best one yet!
Kind regards,
Mrs Peake
Headteacher
As the weather warms up the jumpers come off - please make sure EVERY items has a name in it. Thank you in advance.
SATs cooked breakfast to start the day
Year 6 starting each day of SATs with smiles and a special breakfast! 🌟🥐 We’re so proud of them! 💪✨Thank you Miss Marie for welcoming us with a smile every morning.
Year 1 PSHE
In PSHE, we challenged ourselves to work collaboratively to create these images using only shapes. It definitely tested our teamwork and communication skills, but we used everything we’ve learned this term to support each other and get the job done. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together!
Year N Art
Nursery children have been inspired by the artist and author Eric Carle. They made their own patterned paper. They used the paper to make their own minibeast collages. I’m sure you’ll agree they did a fabulous job!
Yr 6 SATs with a smile!
SATs are finished ✔️ We couldn’t be prouder of all the children for the excellent mindset, resilience and positivity they have shown throughout the week. Time now to relax, swing those legs and enjoy some very well-earned freedom 😎👏
These children have been recognised for their incredible effort and excellence! They will receive a golden certificate, a big round of applause during the celebration assembly, and a coveted spot in the prestigious Gold Book. Well done to all our shining stars!
We are so proud of you!

Medical Appointment Documentation
Please ensure all appointments are made outside of school hours.

The question of the week is -
How do our choices affect other people? Give examples.
We discuss the values and question of the week in assembly. Discuss these with your child at home.
The value of the week is: RESPONSBILITY
Children and young people are increasingly turning to social media for mental health advice, but much of what they encounter online is unverified, oversimplified or misleading. This guide explores why platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become go-to sources, and how misuse of clinical language and viral trends can distort children and young people’s understanding of mental health.
Aimed at parent and educators, it offers clear, expert-led strategies to counter misinformation. The guide looks at topics such as encouraging open conversations, identifying reliable sources, and strengthening school–home collaboration. Use this information to build young people’s critical thinking, resilience and confidence in seeking appropriate professional help when needed.
SPECIAL DIETRY REQUIREMENTS
If your child has an allergy please scan this code and ensure that you complete the new caters online information. We have passed over the information we have and it is all going digital now. Please feel free to speak to a member of staff if you need any support with this.
All allergy referals must be accompanied by medical evidence.
Thank you.
