Dear Parents and Carers,
📷 Over half term, get creative and take a picture of your child reading in an unusual place! 🤩📖
The next OPEN MORNING for Parents to come into school to read with their child is on World Book Day - Thursday 6th March - your child is invited to attend school dressed as a book character - you can too if you so wish to!
Our Afterschool Club is thriving 🎨🎲, and while Breakfast Club is growing, we need more attendees to keep it going! If you’d like this service to continue, please use it! ⏰☕

🎈 JAGs Launch Afternoon! Come meet the team in the cabin on Friday 28th February after school to learn more!
We love hearing from you! 💬 Whether you have concerns or celebrations, feel free to have a quick chat with us. If you need a longer discussion, please book an appointment via the school office 📞.
📊 Survey feedback consistently highlights strong communication between the school and families. Here’s how we stay connected:
📰 Fortnightly newsletters
📄 Letters for key events
📩 Emails & texts as reminders
🐦 Tweets to celebrate achievements
📞 Phone calls when needed
🤝 Meetings & Parent Conferencing throughout the year

Thank you for using Study Bugs - this is helping us identify trends in absence. There seems to be a few children who have been reported with high temperature. Click here to find out what the NHS advise about 'Is my child too ill to go to school?'
We aim for 95% attendance - well done to Year 3 and Reception for achieving this in Term 3. Overall we are 94.1% for this term and just below at 94.6% for the academic year to date! We are close the 95% target and with your help we could still achieve this by the end of the year. Please download the STUDY BUGS app and support us in raising our attendance %.
Please help your child achieve by ensuring they are in school when they are well enough to be here.
Medical Appointment Documentation
Please ensure all appointments are made outside of school hours.
To help us accurately record absences, please email a copy of any medical appointment texts or appointment cards to the school office for confirmation when your child(ren) is absent for health-related reasons. This ensures their attendance records are kept up-to-date.
When making appointments please ask your doctors for a medical slip or appointment text to give to school.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.

The Herbert Morrison PTA would love to create a Herbert Morrison Cookbook! It would be fantastic if pupils, parents and staff could contribute recipes - or perhaps a parent does the recipe and their child can draw a picture to be published with it. We welcome all ideas from casseroles or curries to pies and cakes and more - it can be your favourite go to dish, a family tradition or a latest discovery. We want to highlight the diversity and culture of the school through the art of cooking. If there’s a story that goes alongside it, and you’re happy to, please include that also.
Full information can also be found on the flyer, or on the PTA Website at www.herbertmorrisonpta.co.uk

We discuss the values and question of the week in assembly. Discuss these with your child at home.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
In our school, we call them World Values. Do you know the 5 values? 🧐 They are Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect, and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs. 🌍🇬🇧 #ValuesMatter
Promoting Cooperation Through RRSA
Teaching Cooperation Through RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) 🌍🤝
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) helps teach cooperation by embedding children's rights into school culture. Here’s how:
Understanding Rights Together (Article 12 & 13) – Children learn that everyone has the right to express their views and be heard, fostering mutual respect and teamwork.
Collaborative Decision-Making (Article 12 & 15) – Pupils participate in discussions, school councils, and group activities, ensuring all voices are valued and respected.
Peer Support & Conflict Resolution (Article 19 & 29) – Children work together to resolve conflicts peacefully, promoting cooperation and respect for others.
Group Projects & Activities (Article 28 & 29) – Learning is structured around teamwork, encouraging students to support one another and develop problem-solving skills.
Inclusive Play & Learning (Article 31) – Schools encourage fair play and shared responsibilities in lessons and playground activities, fostering a sense of belonging and cooperation.
Global Citizenship & Empathy (Article 24 & 27) – Understanding global issues and children’s rights worldwide helps students appreciate cooperation in creating a fairer world.
By integrating RRSA principles, schools create an environment where cooperation is not just about working together—it’s about respecting and valuing each other’s rights. 💙✨
While misinformation and ‘fake news’ are well-known concerns online, it's also the case that scammers and other cyber-criminals can try to utilise this phony material to manipulate, frighten or otherwise persuade their victims into cooperating.
With constantly evolving scams and such a high volume of misinformation online, it's vital that parents and educators know how to safeguard the children in their care against these kinds of tactics. Our guide breaks down the most prominent ways in which scammers attempt to use ‘fake news’ to their advantage, as well as how to protect youngsters from being manipulated by such techniques.
