Term 1 2023 Herbert Morrison Newsletter Issue 17 Thursday 19th October 2023
What a super speedy and super productive first term we have had. The children are excelling as you well know following the teacher parent conference meetings. Parents and Carers have worked with us to ensure the children have got off to a strong start this academic year.
Please be assured that we are taking swift action to address concerns. A limited number of reports of bug bites won't distract us from our commitment to excellence. Our team is on it, ensuring a clean and pest-free environment for everyone. Over the half term key areas will have a deep clean and a treatment. Your child's well-being is our top priority! 🚫🦗 Please check your pets at home as well.
We wish you all a peaceful half term break full of reading for pleasure. Here are a couple of ideas and I think Mr Moorcroft is absolutely spot on ... as usual .... we've got this.
Mrs Peake - Headteacher
PS- Thank you to Daniel in year 5 for helping me edit this newsletter today. It was his idea to share the picture of our lovely Gold Book. Good thinking!
These children have been commended for impressive effort and excellence this week.
They receive a special certificate, a round of applause in the celebration assembly and an entry into the Gold Book! We are very proud.
N - Ariah and Jacob
R - Javeon and Scarlett
1 - Henry and Chloe
2 - Nicholas and Maame

90% of the children achieved Good to be Green success this term and were treated to a fun afternoon of games, rangoli patterns, painting, minecraft, creative construction and multi sports. This is an impressive record of achievement - the teachers and teaching assistants joined in the fun - Miss Khadija and Kemi are a whizz at origami! 'This was the best day ever. I loved it and feel happy I am green.' Yr 1 child
This very lucky boy in Year 4 actually drove a tube train on the Bakerloo line! He is an expert on tube lines and this really was a dream come true. 'This is the best day of my life, driving a Bakerloo train to Queens Park and back.'
If you could make one new law, what would it be and why?
RESPECT
We discuss the values and question of the week in assembly. Discuss these with your child at home.

WOW - What a turn out to #CelebrateOurSisters and learn about Black History Month. Many thanks to all of the parents and carers who supported the event. If you were unable to make it this time please check the Term 2 diary dates and book yourself into another event. They are as enjoyable as they look!
There are still lots of local events for you to enjoy in our local libraries. See below for one suggestion.
PLEASE POP THESE DATES INTO YOUR DIARY SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON THE EVENTS OF TERM 2!
Please remember that your child can wear their own clothes as a FUN FUNDRAISER event on the last day of term 1- FRIDAY 20th OCTOBER 2023. Please bring in a £1 or £2 coin, or donate an amount to school fund. Your child's teacher will collect the money at the classroom door - FUNDamentally you are paying towards school FUND for your child to wear their own clothes. Thank you in advance. These funds are very needed in the school - we have a long wish list that we are sharing with external funders and our very own HM PTA.
School closes at the usual time of 3.30pm this Friday.
The closing date for parents to submit an on-time Secondary transfer application is on Tuesday 31st October 2023, leaving parents with 12 calendar days to complete this stage of the process.
