WholeNote+ Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 6, 2026
WholeNote is a personal note-taking app for music lessons. This policy describes what data the app handles and how.
Data you create
Lesson notes, repertoire entries, audio recordings, and video recordings are stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit and iCloud Drive. This data is only accessible to you and is never sent to the app developer or any third party.
Music search
When you search for a piece in the repertoire, the app sends your search query to the following public music databases:
IMSLP (imslp.org) — to search for piece titles and retrieve movement information
MusicBrainz (musicbrainz.org) — to retrieve piece metadata such as full titles and external links
These requests contain only the search text you type. No personal information is included. Both services have their own privacy policies.
Microphone and camera
The app requests microphone and camera access solely to record audio and video clips during lessons. Recordings are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud Drive. They are never uploaded elsewhere.
No analytics or advertising
WholeNote contains no advertising and collects no analytics, crash reports, or usage data.
