MEN, WOMEN, YOUTH & FAMILIES
Meet Julie Fisher - MA, LPC, CFI
I spent my years growing up with several siblings and a large extended family living a rural country life in the north west. I love the outdoors and animals, yet had to learn all domestic chores and ways of survival for rural life. I enjoy sports, horses, camping, travel, art, writing, school but most of all, my children and grand children. I have five children almost nine grandchildren, have been divorced, and am currently a single widow. I love life and have a positive peaceful outlook.
I received a B.S. in psychology and B.S. in Social Sciences from Portland State University in 1985, a B.A. in History and a Secondary Education Teaching License from Metropolitan State University in 1995, a M.A. in Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family from University of Northern Colorado in 2003, and I am currently working on my PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial and organizational psychology at North Central University. I am trained in many techniques, but use a cognitive approach most often. I also use EMDR, structural, and emotional therapy's as well when needed.
I have received crisis training, I've been trained as a Child and Family Investigator and have testified as an expert in court many times. I am a Clinically Certified Juvenile Treatment Specialist, I have served as a Rape Victim Advocate, a Domestic Victim Advocate, and have worked in battered woman's shelters, as well as adolescent treatment facilities and emancipation houses. My work has taken me to a broad number of experiences and places of which I have grown and learn through them all. My greatest joy however has been the last seventeen years of private practice.
I am an open therapist who is very direct and honest with her clients. I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages. I work with all disorders, depressions, anxieties, addictions, sexual orientations, divorces, family issues, child parent issues, teen issues, behavioral issues.
I live in the foot hills and practice out of the libraries study rooms in Parker, Castle Rock, and Lone Tree at this time and have been doing so for the last three years. It has worked for me.
I do a lot of work with addiction in general, but particularly with sexual and alcohol addiction.
I help individuals work through the feelings, thoughts, and memories associated with the loss of someone or something vital.
I work with both married and pre-marital couples invested in building a healthy relationship with each other.
I work with many people who experience anxiety and/or depression, a very common challenge today.
I work with children and teens in a wide variety of emotional challenges, growing up in a world different from any previous generation.
Issues stemming from divorce and custody are difficult. I help families to come together and heal.
LIFE'S STORMS In today's difficult and ever-changing world, we all find ourselves, at some point, striving to navigate life's storms.
NAVIGATION TOOL Think of psychotherapy as a place where you can come in from the rain to seek professional guidance through conversation; a time that gives you permission to take a needed pause, to evaluate and nurture your mental and emotional well-being . Psychotherapy is a tool that can help you not only pilot the storm of today but prepare to sail smoothly through the gathering dark clouds of tomorrow.
WISE INVESTMENT Most people invest in their physical health, like preventative medicine, surgery, exercise and nutrition. The result is a healthier body. Over half of adults experience some kind of deep emotional difficulty at some time during their life. One in four adults suffer mental illness. Psychotherapy is a wise investment in emotional well-being that results in more happiness, resilience and self-acceptance.
LIFETIME IMPACT Everyone experiences the need for someone to talk to; someone that can help them turn the experience of gloomy wet weather into the stuff that's needed to nurture a beautiful field of flowers. Research shows that people who receive psychotherapy have fewer negative emotional symptoms and report having an overall higher quality of life. If done well, the benefit of psychotherapy lasts well beyond the service and significantly impacts an entire lifetime.
