a journey in the tricks of memory
What if you cannot recognise your loved ones? This project aims to improve people's understanding of how a memory-loss person might perceive a daily event as contrasted to how their caregiver perceives the same event. To achieve this aim, this project creates an immersive experience in virtual reality where users are presented with both sides of a story through a first-person view.
Brainstorming key scenarios: low-fi sketching, storyboarding
Prototyping via acting out the scenario while recording a low-res 360-degree video (camera worn on the head of "caregiver" (left))
Emotion map for user experience design in the VR scenario (two perspectives: caregiver (left), memory-loss person (right))
We 3D-printed the "mask", which symbolises how the memory-loss person perceives the face of their loved ones.
Double Perspectives of narrative
VR environment simulated via 360-degree recordings
Inner monologue of characters in addition to their conversations (video: a glimpse of our first narrative prototype)
