All cast members will be asked to provide their own base layers
“Base Layers” = First layer of clothing between the actor's body and costume pieces

Dear Alice in Wonderland Jr. Cast Families,
The costume crew has already been working hard to find the best costumes for all our performers, and we need your help to make this production a success! We have a HUGE cast, and we will need each cast member to supply a few items to be worn onstage. It is our hope that several of these items will be things your child already has or are easily attainable. Please note that the items we are asking you to supply are items that your child will keep after the production is over.
All costume pieces are due by Monday, January 6th, but the earlier, the better! Costume parents will be at rehearsal to collect these items every Monday before the due date. If any changes need to be made to your assigned items, you will of course be notified as soon as possible. Please let us know if you are having a difficult time finding an item, or if you have any questions, especially regarding using items you already own!
Please make sure that ALL costume items brought from home are clearly labeled so they can be returned to the correct person. Also make sure all bags containing items are clearly labeled in case they get mixed together.
All cast members must supply and wear a base layer under their costume. Female cast members must wear a bodysuit or camisole/tank top, either in a color close to their skin tone OR a color close to their costume. Female cast members must also wear spanx or bike shorts if they are not wearing leggings or pants as part of their costume (noted below if applicable). Male cast members must wear an undershirt in the color noted and plain, light-colored boxers or boxer briefs under their costume. Please see your character’s section for specifics.
Stage lights can get hot, and part of the reason for these items is to minimize sweat and odor on the costumes themselves. As some of our cast members have multiple costumes, these base layers will also allow for easier costume changes. Costume changes are not allowed in bathroom stalls as there is too big a risk of dropping something. Deodorant is a MUST.
We will first collect all costume pieces to ensure that everyone has what they need, but will send home tights,socks and undershirts/bodysuits so your child can come to the dress rehearsals and shows already wearing them. It is recommended that each cast member brings an extra pair of tights or socks as they tend to get lost or damaged.
If you happen to have multiples of a particular item (maybe a too-small version from last year, or items purchased in a multipack) and would be interested in passing along to another family, please let Libbi or Lanie know! Also remember that we have financial assistance available to anyone who needs it - please email Ms. Patino for more information on financial assistance.

Bodysuit:
Close match to actor’s skin tone. Plain, no pattern. Spaghetti or tank strap, must not show under a T-shirt.

Crew neck, plain, no logos or patterns. Undershirt/bodysuit must fit underneath.
Dress shirt
Plain, white buttons. Undershirt/bodysuit must fit underneath. May be worn under a jacket.
Leggings
Plain, no pattern or texture. Must be opaque, not tights or anything see-through. Preferably not fleece-lined as it can get hot onstage!
Pants
Plain, no patterns or texture. May be colored denim or flat-front dress pants. No white drawstrings or colored fastenings.
Character/Ballroom Dance shoes
Black, closed toe, single strap (no T-strap or double strap)
Mary Jane style flat shoes
Matte, no patent leather or glitter. Rubber or scuffled leather sole preferred to prevent slipping onstage. Very low/no heel.
Flat shoes
Matte, not patent leather or glitter. Must be entirely black from the top/side view. Rubber or scuffed leather soles preferred to prevent slipping. Must stay securely on the foot, so a strap or laces are preferred. Again, please reach out if you have something you think may work. You may also use the links in the Mary Jane section if you are assigned this item.
Dress shoes
Matte, not patent leather. Must stay securely on foot for dancing so laces preferred. If black, must be entirely black from top/side view. Rubber or scuffed leather soles preferred to prevent slipping.
Opaque tights
Solid colored, not sheer or textured. Avoid fleece-lined as it can get hot onstage! May want to have a backup pair in case of damage during rehearsals.
Socks
Crew unless otherwise specified. May want to have a backup or two in case one gets lost.
