Class overview
Welcome to the Spoon Carving Workshop brought to you by Whittled by Crystal!
A mindful and grounding craft, whittling brings your mind to the present and allows for a slow and intentional process in creating. Oh, and not to mention, it is so satisfying!
Join this workshop and learn how to safely and properly use hand carving tools and techniques. You will be guided by your instructor, Crystal, on how to use the Japanese gauge to carve out the scoop of your spoon, and the carving knife to whittle the head and handle of the spoon. Finally, when your design is complete, you will hand sand and coat your spoon in mineral oil for a sleek, natural finish. By the end of the class, students will have created their own, unique wooden spoon to take home!

About me
Hello! My name is Crystal and I am a primary school educator turned whittler from Los Angeles, California, living in Barcelona.
I have always been inspired by nature and possess a love for creating with my hands: building, fixing, designing! After exporing my hobby of wood carving for a few years, I decided to create Whittled by Crystal. Bringing warmth and natural beauty into the home, Whittled by Crystal offers handcrafted wooden spoons, knives and other functional items.
Combining my teaching background with my whittling skills, I later began teaching kids how to hand carve spoons, and now hold whittling workshops for adults!
