Hi 4th graders! I know many of you already and am looking forward to getting to know you as fourth graders this year!
This picture shows my family: my husband Randy, and our two sons, James (15), and Emmet (12). That's our dog, Archie, who's 4 and who we call by about 20 different nicknames. I love being outside, doing yoga, reading, and listening to podcasts. And I could live on tacos.
I can't believe it, but this is my 25th year teaching at Whittier! I've also taught in Seattle and American Samoa. I love that Whittier is my home away from home.
Welcome to the fourth grade family! I am so excited to meet each and every one of you, and to be part of your learning journey.
A little bit about me: I grew up in Oak Park and love teaching in a community that feels like home. I now live in Westchester with my husband Jeff, son James, and fur baby Fitzgerald. We love spending time cooking, going for walks, and playing games.
This will be my 3rd year co-teaching 4th grade with Ms. Darley at Whittier, and my 9th year teaching Special Education. This year is sure to be filled with new experiences and lots of fun. I'm looking forward to learning and growing with you!
Welcome to fourth grade! I am so excited to get to know each of you. We are going to have an awesome school year together!
I grew up in Oak Park, then went off to college in Iowa, then lived out west in Portland and Los Angeles for a while before coming back and becoming a teacher. I live in the neighborhood, so you might see me out with my wife Elizabeth, my daughter Imogen (3), my son John (1), or our dog Scout. Feel free to shout "Hello, Mr. Lukehart!" and I'll shout back. I am a big baseball fan (Go Cleveland!), a big soccer fan (Go Liverpool!), and a big Star Wars fan, especially the original trilogy that I grew up with.
This is my 12th year as a teacher at Whittier, my favorite school in the world!
Welcome to 4th Grade! I am looking forward to getting to know you and learning so much together!
About me: I grew up in Forest Park and as a kid, I loved going to Lake Theater to see many movies. Now, I live with my partner, Jessica, on the northwest side of Chicago. I love to eat food from local restaurants, cook delicious meals, and play board games.
This will be my 2nd year teaching 4th Grade at Whittier, and I am happy to be teaching at the same school at which I student taught. I am looking forward to all the learning memories we will have together this year!
Hello 4th Grade Students and Families,
My name is Ms. Carmack and I have been a Teacher Assistant for 20 years. My sister and I are residents of Forest Park. I love art: drawing, painting, jewelry making, and sculpture. I am excited to be working in 4th grade again.
Hello Everyone,
I am Mrs. Pohlman, the classroom teaching assistant. I have worked for District 97 for twelve years. I live in south Oak Park with my husband and two very large sons. Even though I will miss spending hours in my backyard hammock, I am happy to be back with students again.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Mr. Woods. This will be my third year as a teachers assistant at Whittier. I live in University Village, which is pretty close to downtown. I enjoy music and sports . I can’t wait to get to meet you all and see those beautiful faces. Let's make this year the best year.
