The Whitney High School PTSA is a nationally recognized National PTA School of Excellence, dedicated to providing elite leadership opportunities, community building, and student recognition programs.

Below are the consolidated guidelines for the Community Service Program and Awards:

🏅 Recognition & Awards

All Students: Earn a Whitney PTSA Community Service Award (medal or certificate) by successfully submitting hours following the program guidelines.
Graduating seniors: Eligible to receive a celebratory Graduation Cord presented during Senior Award Night.
8th Graders: Eligible to receive dedicated awards during Promotion Night to recognize middle school achievements.

📅 Important Deadlines & Sign-Ups

Interest Form: Students must first sign up using the Student Volunteer Interest Form to join the program roster.
Ongoing Notifications: Opportunity emails will be sent out throughout the school year for various volunteering events.
Guidelines Announcement: The Whitney PTSA team releases final qualifying criteria and submission instructions every April.

📋 Tracking and Eligibility Rules

Membership: You must be a WHS PTSA member for the current school year
Attendance Tracking: Service hours are strictly tracked and verified using official sign-in and sign-out sheets at events.
Acceptable Hours: Hours can be accumulated through direct Whitney PTSA program events or by volunteering for outside community programs (Swim club, library etc).
Verification Rules: Students must provide explicit verification and proof of hours alongside all submitted documents. All information must be accurate. The WHS PTSA reserves the right to verify hours. Falsifying documents will result in disqualification.
Timeframe: Hours must be completed in the calendar year 26-27 (from 04/15/2026 to 04/14/2027).
No Double-Counting: Hours applied toward this program cannot be submitted for volunteer awards with any other Whitney campus clubs.

🚫 Non-Eligible Hours

Donating funds
Political lobbying
Religious Hours: Hours served through religious services, church events, or faith-based activities are not recognized.
Scouts Hours: Service tracked for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or similar youth organization badges cannot be counted.
Club Hours: Volunteer hours managed by other campus-affiliated clubs or extracurricular societies are excluded.
Other Parent Groups: Awards or service hours credited through external parent organizations are ineligible for submission.
Court-ordered community service.
Serving family members.
