Alcohol Detox Treatment Near Me

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is often used to describe someone having issues in their life caused by their alcohol consumption. AUD can include problems controlling how much a person drinks, being preoccupied with alcohol, and using alcohol even when it causes problems. It can also entail having a tolerance to alcohol, drinking more to get the same effect, or having withdrawal symptoms when not drinking or when the normal amount of alcohol is notably reduced. At WhiteSands, we have seen all of these issues and helped our clients work through them by giving them the help they need, which often starts with alcohol detox treatment.

Alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction, the two main issues defined under AUD, are often treated differently during rehab, but both benefit from alcohol detox treatment. Someone who abuses alcohol may not think they have an issue, that their drinking is under control, and they like to have a good time. They don’t feel the need to drink every day. Even where this is the case, beginning their road to sobriety by removing any substances from their body during detox is a great first step. At WhiteSands, we offer inpatient alcohol detox at our Plant City location for the Winter Park area residents. At our residential campus, patients going through alcohol detox are monitored 24 hours a day, have full medical reviews, meet with our psychiatric staff and have the opportunity to take part in group therapy during their treatment. This first phase in our comprehensive treatment options at WhiteSands is the perfect way to begin a healthier lifestyle with alcohol behind you.

When a person has become addicted to drugs, withdrawal symptoms can start almost immediately, anywhere from six to 24 hours after they stop using. That’s why it’s important for anyone who has decided to quit using drugs is in a supervised detox program. By being under the watchful eyes of both medical clinicians and detox therapy specialists, any effect withdrawal symptoms are having on an individual can be addressed. Our doctors and nurses can administer over the counter medicines to combat minor symptoms like nausea and body aches, and we also offer detox medications for more severe cases. We want you to have the flexibility to choose the program that best fits both your personal preferences and any underlying issues that caused your addiction.

Detox Treatment for Opioids

Over the last two decades, the abuse of prescription opioids has grown to epidemic proportions across the United States. At WhiteSands Treatment, we know this issue and have modified and added to our services. We always want to offer our clients a customized plan for their treatment, which often starts with drug detox. Detox treatment for opioids is addressed somewhat differently than with other substances due to how addictive drugs in this category can be. This process is because opioids affect the brain in a way that both relieves pain and stimulates pleasure. This combination of stimulus makes abusing opioids a very hard habit to break. This difficulty is also why it is imperative for individuals struggling with opioid abuse or addiction to detox in a safe, secure environment, which we offer at WhiteSands.

There are both legal prescription and illicit drugs that fall into the opioid category, which can be very easy for people abusing an opioid to get one substance or another to satisfy their need. It is very dangerous to detox on your own and navigate the withdrawal symptoms and urges to use again. At WhiteSands, people going through detox treatment for opioids are monitored 24/7. We also offer non-prescription medications to mitigate withdrawal symptoms and prescription drugs used to help, such as Buprenorphine, Vivitrol, or Naltrexone. These medications are widely used in treating opioid addiction and have proven to be very effective when used in combination therapy.

Opioid Rehab

Opioid rehab at WhiteSands can take place in both our inpatient and outpatient clinics. If a client has gone through inpatient opioid detox at one of our residential campuses, an easy transition can be made to our inpatient opioid rehab services. As with all of our treatment plans, people struggling with opioids have custom-tailored care based on many factors. Some of these include their general overall physical and mental health but there are more as well. How long they’ve been abusing, their typical living environment, along with the specific substance they have been abusing will also impact the type of treatment. Whether a person chooses inpatient or outpatient care, they will have the opportunity to take part in individual, group and family therapy. Family therapy can be especially helpful for those loved ones who have not experienced drug abuse or addiction in the past. Family sessions allow loved ones to understand how drugs affect a person’s life and how they can be part of the solution for an individual’s success in recovery.

Heroin is a popular illegal drug in the opioid family. Hearing the word heroin usually sets off an alarm in people’s heads. However, prescription opioid use, even when used as prescribed by a doctor, can lead to a substance use disorder. Withdrawal symptoms include muscle and bone pain, sleep problems, diarrhea and vomiting, and severe cravings. The severe cravings are part of what opioid rehab helps to change. By identifying what triggers a person’s drug use through individual and group rehab sessions, therapists can help our clients change behaviors, avoid stressful situations and modify their daily life in a way that lessens the temptation to use drugs again.

Medically Assisted Treatment

As part of our comprehensive services at WhiteSands Alcohol and Drug Rehab, we offer specialized outpatient care for specific clients. Patients who have abused or been addicted to opioids may benefit from substitute drug treatment, also referred to as Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT), as part of their overall care plan. At WhiteSands, we have Suboxone clinics at many of our locations, including at our Plant City and Orlando offices for Winter Park area residents. In the past, many drug detox and rehab organizations have used Methadone to wean opioid users off the substance they have been abusing and substituting a more controlled drug. However, there were still pitfalls regarding the use of Methadone for drug rehab treatment.

Suboxone, a combination medication containing Buprenorphine and Naloxone, is used for MAT for opiate addiction for its ability to reduce the effects of withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone is only a partial agonist of the main opiate receptor, so it does not produce the same euphoric effect as other drugs in the category. The use of MATs has been shown to lower the risk of fatal overdoses by approximately 50%. At WhiteSands, our Suboxone clinics are typically used for two purposes; either as a transitional step in between inpatient detox and rehab or as a step up in treatment if a person is suffering from urges to use again.

What Is Detox Like? What to Expect

At WhiteSands Alcohol and Drug Rehab, inpatient detox typically lasts from four to 10 days. The length of time it takes a person to complete alcohol or drug detox varies due to several aspects. One is how long a person has been abusing their substance of choice. The other is the substance itself, as some take longer to remove from a person’s system than others. When a person enters detox, they have a full medical exam. They also meet with one of our psychiatrists to assess their mental state. Our medical staff needs to know as much about a patient as possible. In this way, they can react to any patient’s issues as they go through the detox process.

As part of our detox team, we have several addictionologists on staff. We also have 24 hours a day nursing support. Nursing stations are positioned throughout our facility to ensure that patients are not waiting for a long amount of time when they need assistance. Individuals going through detox meet with medical specialists regularly. All of our patients are assigned a primary therapist who they also meet regularly and assess their treatment progress.

What Is Rehab Like? What to Expect

Inpatient and outpatient drug rehab have different aspects that work for individuals, and that’s why we offer both at WhiteSands Treatment. Inpatient rehab allows our clients to separate themselves from the outside world to focus on their treatment. Residential rehab treatment at WhiteSands can last for up to 60 days. During this time, each patient receives customized care. This care is organized by a primary therapist who monitors and guides their patients during their stay. We offer many different types of therapy, and we want each of our guests to be comfortable with the types of sessions they are participating in as part of their treatment.

Whether it is inpatient or outpatient care, our clients can take part in individual, group or family therapy. One type of individual therapy is referred to as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is one of the most effective methods used in our addiction treatment centers. CBT focuses on your behavioral responses to specific triggers. Besides family therapy options, we also have relapse prevention and other educational services available for those entering recovery and their loved ones.
