In this letter, Louise mentions getting 10 - 12 inches of snow. She asks Harry if he had to "sweep snow" at work and says "The sleighs are beginning to make their appearance again and the merry bells remind me of the happy Holidays."

In this letter, Louise relates how concerned she was when she didn't get a letter from Harry, but then says she was happy to get postcards from him: ". I never dreamed there were such beautiful scenes in the East. When Mother looked at them, she said they recalled her dear childhood days among the mountains of Pa."

She also greeted the mail carrier happily when she got a letter from Harry: "After reading the cards, I was a little provoked at some one for not writing anymore but 4 o'clock Mail Delivery brought the prescription that cured for the Post man said that was the best smile I had for him for over a week."
