Anyway, Sam grew up with a rough past, where he had countless issues with his adversarial family. thanks to these “family members”, he had a ruthless upbringing in which he could never fully get to express himself. Regardless of this though, Sam always had a fiendish taste for music. He was one with a keen ear, from all different genres of music depending on mood and the situation he would be in at that time. Despite his obvious brilliance, his family would still decide to treat him as an unwanted and torn branch to the family tree. They moved from pillar to post and ended up situating in several different areas of England, before reaching his current destination.
Plymouth, England. I know… What a choice huh!
Let’s carry on here to roughly 14/15 years old, where Sam would join Ridgeway School in Year 10, just in time for his GCSEs, and to make some new English friends before being let out into the big bad cold world. This is where he met Reed, in English class.
Sam was faced with many challenges still within the UK. Most would stay disclosed for personal reasons, but he is more than happy to explain and express throughout his music catalogue. Despite his direct family becoming relics of the past, he still found new hope in the support circle he had around him, such as Reed, and plenty of others to name.
Reed grew up with an Alcoholic Guardian & Abusive Siblings, but this never stopped him being his true self. Although he wouldn’t face much trouble a majority of the time, there is still enough scars in his memory.
Reed also had a near death experience when he was aged 9, where a loft hatch had Impaled into his head and he had suffered severe blood loss. Some would say, this knocked some sense into him. Hahaha!
Reed was a bit weird growing up. I will be honest.
He was relatively quiet and didn’t really interfere much within the large groups and was often quite introverted. As he got much older, this all started to change, and formed into the extroverted and loud obnoxious twat he is today.
Nevertheless, he still had several friends through school and had a few names he could stick by throughout, but met Sam in Year 10 in Ridgeway School. This is where the pair truly bonded.
It wasn’t until 2017 when YTB still had an edge for rapping, as did Reed. They would also have a mate known as “Ginge” who also was involved at this point, and eventually the 3 of them decided to try and make a rap song together. YTB had already previously made two solo rap tracks prior to this, but as our skill set was constantly improving, we decided to give it another go. YTB named the 3-Man Group, “White Hill Crew”
YTB thought of this name whilst performing a freestyle in front of his friends in his bedroom at the time, to a “Cypress Hill” instrumental.
We made 1 or 2 songs, but due to life, and constantly having to work and all that good stuff, we rarely found time for the 3 of us to all link up and create tracks. Ginge decided he did not want to move forward with the projects, so Reed and YTB also took a break for a short while.
The lads decided again when sat together, they was going to try and make an album, Reed and YTB would now be known as the two halves of White Hill Crew, and they wanted to create their debut album. They started to make two man tracks for a introduction to the group.
We continued on, and made several projects. There’s been EPs, Singles, Albums and more. And then, on Jan 30th 2021, White Hill Crew we’re played on the BBC Airwaves for the first time with their single, “Hollow Man”. From this point, many tracks had formed. The lads had also gained friendship with other rappers, with “99” becoming a close friend in particular.
Later down the line, 99 actually ended up moving in with YTB. At this point we just wanted to constantly produce new music and create new content; we’re heavy on YouTube but would also dedicate our time that we are also available on all other platforms too.
All the lads have now made so much Music. White Hill Crew currently stands with 3 Albums, and numerous other content such as singles and EPs. 99 also has his own unique catalogue. Which you can check out here on Spotify.
White Hill Crew has been constantly expanding over the years for their online content, and if we fast forward to today, at this point they have been on BBC Radio in several areas on many different occasions, and plan to keep doing so. They are also aiming to make more Music Videos and content for the future, as well as Live Shows and more.
