( Recreation Meeting minutes)
Whiteford Recreation Club is an independent elementary school athletic feeder program for Whiteford Agricultural Middle School and high school interscholastic athletic programs. Interscholastic athletics are an integral component of the total educational experience. Just as in Whiteford's program, while we will strive to make our teams as competitive as possible, our primary objective is to help our student-athletes acquire important life skills that will help them be successful in their adult lives. Our athletic philosophy is designed to help young people develop mentally, physically, emotionally, and intellectually to their fullest potential. Programs are designed to encourage meaningful participation and provide experiences in a variety of activities. While winning is an important part of any athletic event, winning at any cost is not part of the Whiteford REC Philosophy. Academics, community, participation, learning, and sportsmanship take precedence over winning. Through positive reinforcement and intentional teaching, we will show our athletes how to succeed with humility and persevere through setbacks in a productive manner

Whiteford Recreation continues to exist year after year because parents in the community volunteer their time and skills to our elementary-age kids. As children age out of the program so do our volunteers, please consider joining the team so that your kid's generation can maintain access to these community teams.
