Schill Whiskey Vault ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide the features of our App, we require certain permissions and data:

A. Camera and Image Data

The App requires access to your device's camera to scan whiskey bottle labels and barcodes. 

- Why we need it: To provide AI-powered identification of whiskey expressions.

- How it is handled: Photos taken are stored locally on your device (in a dedicated "WhiskeyPhotos" folder). The images are temporarily transmitted to secure third-party AI services (such as Google/Firebase services) strictly for the purpose of analyzing and identifying the bottle. We do not publicly store, share, or sell your photos.

B. Location Data (Coarse and Fine Location)

The App requests access to your location.

- Why we need it: To determine your current country/region in order to provide accurate, market-specific pricing, currency formatting, and retailer information for the scanned bottles.

- How it is handled: Your location data is processed at the moment of scanning. We do not track your device's location in the background, nor do we store a history of your movements.

C. Local Storage and Collection Data

Your personal whiskey collection, tasting notes (Journal), ratings, and flight setups are stored locally on your device using a local database. We do not have access to your personal vault data.

2. Third-Party Services and Analytics

The App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, ensure app security, and provide core functionalities:

- Google Play Services: For core Android functionality.

- Firebase & Google Cloud: We use Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity API to protect the App against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access. We also utilize Google-backed AI services to process barcode and image data. These services may collect basic device information, crash logs, and diagnostic data.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

Because your primary data (your whiskey collection and notes) is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all your data at any time by:

- Deleting individual bottles within the App.

- Clearing the App's data in your device's Settings.

- Uninstalling the App entirely.

4. Security

We value your trust in providing us your information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it, including Firebase App Check. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Children's Privacy

Our App is intended for users of legal drinking age in their respective jurisdictions. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the legal drinking age. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
