I really want to encourage people to create their own homebred Pintabians, and I know helping people out with a template would be a step in the right direction. Use this as you wish: edit as much as you'd like or simply toss coats on it and go. I look forward to seeing your creations.
Fell Ponies are a hardy, versatile, and powerful breed. Developed to pull heavy carts and to survive life grazing the windy, bleak fells of England (hence their name!) they have a tough, intelligent nature that lends them prowess in many disciplines. Strong enough to carry an adult rider over a cross country course, elegant enough to excel in dressage, and kind and grounded enough to grace any lesson program, Fell Ponies are a great addition to any stable. Why don't you take one home today? I've made it even easier for you with this template and 5 basic coats to make getting your own Fell a breeze. I hope to see more of these guys around here soon!
Or other heavy warmblood/light draft.
Edit as you wish, use as much as you like, just enjoy.
Someone asked me to release my warmblood conformations so here they are. (I'm realizing that I've reached a point where I'll make/release anything if you ask me nicely enough.) Nonetheless, here they are for your enjoyment- as always, I encourage you to use these however you want, but all I ask is that you don't use these templates to make horses that you charge people money for. This goes for imports, breedings, sale horses, ect. I release my content for free and I want it to stay that way.
Includes light, medium and heavy variants.
A light draft breed used for harness racing in Scandinavia, Coldblooded Trotters may refer to two closely related and interconnected breeds- the Norsk Kaldblodstraver(Norwegian Coldblood Trotter) and the Svensk Kallblodstravare (Swedish Coldblood Trotter). Their main use is trot racing, however they also receive high caps in Draft Horse Showing, Ridden Showing, TREC and Dressage sports.
A template suiting light baroque breeds with rounded frames and light square heads. Shown here used on Berbers, Paso Finos, and Chilean Horses, and would suit similar breeds such as Marismeño, Peruvian Paso, PRE/PSL and Lipizzaners. These breeds tend to flourish in sports such as Dressage and Working Equitation, Pleasure disciplines, and Western careers such as Cutting and Ranch Versatility.
A template for stock breeds with previous draft or Iberian influence. Shown here used on a Nokota, but would also work for breeds such as the American Indian Horse, Mustang, or Missouri Fox Trotter.
The Kladruber is the oldest Czech horse breed and one of the world's oldest horse breeds. It is considered very rare, and is infamous for its distinctive strong Roman profile. The main breeding centre is the National Stud Farm Kladruby nad Labem in the Czech Republic where Kladrubers have been bred for more than 400 years. They excel in Carriage Driving and Dressage sports as well as Vaulting. The breed is majorly black or black-based grey, however the occasional bay or chestnut occurs.
A relatively modern breed, Georgian Grandes are a cross between the American Saddlebred and draft breeds, typically Friesians and Percherons. The goal of breeders is to create a heavier saddlebred-type horse, to incorporate the refinement and gaits of the saddlebred combined with the size, temperament and bone density of the draft. These type of horses are often considered the "originial" type of Saddlebred, and were frequently used as cavalry mounts during the Civil War. The modern Georgian Grande breeding project was founded in the 1970s, and since then this breed has expanded to become a phenomenal pleasure riding mount and sporthorse. All colors that are found in the American Saddlebred are present, as well as colors introduced from the various draft breeds they are crossed with.
An ancient breed of horse native to Iran, Caspian Horses rarely stand taller than 11 hands but are termed a horse due to their proportions and gaits. Caspians are believed to descend directly from the first equines on earth and considered to be one of the oldest domestic breeds of horses still in existence. The breed closely resembles the Arabian and are believed to be a direct ancestor of the modern Arab. Extremely hardy, intelligent, athletic and graceful, Caspians are an excellent choice for small riders looking for their next sporthorse.
A very modern American breed, Sugarbush Drafts are bred with an intense focus on excellent conformation, striking color and reliable temperaments. Originally created in 1999 with crosses between race-bred Appaloosa mares and an exceptional Percheron stallion, the founding line of Sugarbush Drafts were produced. Intended to be a breed that is hardy enough to withstand the demands of modern riding while being versatile and agile enough to hold their own in a variety of different careers, Sugarbush Drafts have become a very popular breed with all types of different equestrians in the two decades since the breed's founding.
Native to Brazil, the Campolina was developed in the 1870s by a farmer named Cassiano Campolina. The breed was founded by combining bloodlines from the Barb, Andalusian, Anglo-Norman, Clydesdale, Holsteiner, American Saddle Horse and later the Mangalarga Marchador. Today, the breed is one of the most numerous in Brazil, with nearly 100,000 registered Campolina horses. Campolinas are famous for their long, rounded frames, bold trapezoidal heads, and ambling gait. The breed excels in Western and Pleasure disciplines. Big thank you to Samantha Lockhart for introducing me to this breed and letting me use her template as a base for this one!
Perhaps one of the most iconic horse breeds in existence, the Clydesdale is well-known and beloved for it's classic sabino coloring, snowy-white feathers and naturally, its immense size. Used for carriage driving in style the world over, the Clydesdale has become a centerpiece of the equestrian world. It's talents also extend to Ridden Showing, TREC, Draft Horse Showing and dressage sports.
A template intended for drafts closer to the workhorse variety. Shown here used on Shire, Noriker and American Cream Draft horses, however could be tweaked to suit all manner of large draft breeds, such as Belgians, Ardennes, Doles, Percherons and Drums.
Show Cobs are traditionally used for ridden showing in the UK. This type of horse is typically a cross between riding horses, drafts and ponies, to result in a mild-mannered, compact, sensible show horse. They are typically hogged or shaven, and come in a wide variety of colors as they allow so much outcrossing. This template is for the Show Cob (Maxi) strain, meaning cobs that have the most draft blood and stand the tallest (15.1 hands or taller.)
A template perfect for all things gaited. This template was created for Morgan horses, so it has a rather rounded frame and refined head, so it may require some tweaking for breeds with longer, flatter backs and squarer heads. However, it should work well as a base for most gaited and stock breeds.
A template suiting baroque breeds or heavy stock type breeds with more bone and muscle mass. Shown here on an Azteca, but could easily be modified to suit breeds like Friesians, Criollos, Mallorquin Horses and Knabstruppers.
Baroque or Barock Pintos are a breed created by crossing Friesians to warmblood breeds, most commonly the KWPN. The classic black tobiano coloring is much preferred by breeders, though any color carried in the KWPN can occur. A solid, heavy breed with an even temperament and powerful athletic abilities, the breed excels in Dressage sports, Vaulting, Pleasure sports and Driving.
A template for stock breeds that have a lot of Progenitor influence (Thoroughbred, Arabian and other light breeds) to create a sturdy but versatile and athletic mount. Shown here used on a Colorado Ranger, but would also be a good choice for Australian Stock Horses, Waler (Riding) strain, Appendix Quarter Horses, Florida Crackers and light Mustangs.
Light pony version, to mimic light stock breeds in smaller versions. Used here on a Pony of the Americas, but could also be used on Florida Crackers, Waler (Pony) strains, Australian Ponies or just pony-sized versions of regular stock breeds.
This version is slightly smaller, stockier, and denser, to create a pony who has more draft and stock influence in it's makeup. This was used on a Quarter Pony, and could easily be adapted to be used on Waler Ponies, Ponies of the Americas, Pottocks, or any kind of crossbred pony.
An ancient breed hailing from the Caucasus region of current-day Russia, the Kabarda or Kabardin Horse has existed for at least 400 years. They are a hardy, versatile breed, having breed bred to survive the harsh conditions and terrain of their homeland. The breed has a wide variety of uses owing to their excellent breeding and range of sub-types within the breed. They are strong, well-formed, fast with lasting stamina, and thus have become a favorite for breeders around the world looking to improve their stock. Excelling in Dressage sports such as Working Equitation, Carriage Driving, Vaulting, Eventing, and a plethora of other disciplines, the Kabarda is a smart choice for anyone seeking their next mount.
There is perhaps no other breed with such a distinctive, iconic look than the Vanner (or Irish Cob as it is often called in the UK). Known world-over for its excess of silky flowing hair in its' mane, tail and feathers, as well as its classic black and white tobiano coat that breeders prefer, the Vanner is about as renowned as breed can get. Excelling in Liberty, Draft Horse Showing, and Ridden Showing, as well as other sports such as Dressage and Gymkhana, the Vanner can bring elegance and beauty to any stable.
I am retiring one of my most beloved templates to give it you all to use, in the hopes that you get as much use and enjoyment from I did. This is an Arabian template suiting horses with small, rounded frames, refined, type-y heads and large eyes. It will also suit Pintabians, Araloosas, and other Arabian derivative breeds. I ask that you do not claim this template as your own or use it as a base for imports (ie don't charge people for my work) but please, tweak it to your desire and use it however you wish. Merry Christmas 🎀
