The current process of recording and creating maps for the website are set out below with links to detailed technical pages or product websites relating to the equipment, software and internet resources use for this. I would stress that the details given are based upon practical experience of using these products and services, and not on expert knowledge.
Walk the route and record a GPX Track file with Garmin eTrex 10 handheld GPS unit and download to computer.
Check the display of the GPX Track File downloaded from the handheld GPS unit using a viewer such as GPXSee.
Use RouteConverter to edit the GPX Track File downloaded from the handheld GPS unit to simplify the recorded route, eliminate anomalies and unintended deviations.
Edit the text of the GPX file to eliminate superfluous data and change the name of the file, which has been automatically created, to the Route Title to be shown in the Walk Index.
If necessary to check for accuracy; import the edited GPX Track File into an OS Maps Website or App to review.
Copy a jpg image of the edited route from RouteConverter
Add a record of the walk to the appropriate Walk Index page of this website, including the jpg images of the edited route and links to download a copy of edited GPX Track File showing the route.
