Mrs. W.

Mrs. Woychowski is a 2nd generation Westie who raised a 3rd.  She graduated from WHHS in 1998 and attended Southern Connecticut State University, majoring in English and Secondary Education.  She earned her Bachelor of Science and Connecticut Certification to Teach (grades 7-12) in 2002, shortly thereafter marrying Justin.  Her teaching career began at Carrigan Middle (now Intermediate) School, teaching 7th grade Writing/English and Reading/Literature.  She moved to WHHS in 2007, just after the birth of her son, teaching 10th grade American Literature.  Returning to SCSU, her Master of Arts (Women's Studies and American Indian Literature) was conferred in May of 2008.  After completing an additional 30 credits in Educational Technology and completing her tenure as Class of 2013 Co-Advisor, she enrolled in the Area Cooperative Educational Services' Alternate Route to Certification in School Library Media (ARCLMS) while moving to our Library under a staggered schedule in 2014.  Now she is on a regular school day schedule after the retirement of her mentor and friend Mrs. Marilyn Lynch.  

In addition to her pursuits in the worlds of books and Google, Mrs. W. was Class of 2025 Advisor and was the Robotics Team Mom.  She served 9.5 years on the Connecticut Association of School Librarians Board of Directors, a two year term on the American Library Association Committee for School and Public Library Cooperation representing the American Association of School Librarians, and a three year term on the Connecticut Library Consortium Board.  She is a former member of the West Haven Public Library Board of Directors, represented West Haven on the ACES Library Media and Technology council for several years, and is Union Proud.  Her book reviews have appeared in School Library Journal, and her blog posts have been published on AASL's, YALSA's, and ALSC's websites.  She encourages everyone to donate: blood via a local American Red Cross drive, supplies to the West Haven Animal Shelter, and gently used clothing to the Westie Clothes Closet.  

Under Mrs. W.'s house rules, Yankees fans are permanently banned from the Library.
