My fascination with planetary science is fuelled by my background in geology and remote sensing, which serves as a crucial tool for exploring the morphology and mineralogy of planetary surfaces. My research focuses primarily on investigating surfaces of the Moon, Mars, and Venus. My primary tool of investigation is reflectance spectroscopy in visible and near-infrared wavelengths. Recently, I have developed an interest in the examination of volatiles on the lunar poles.
My PhD work studies Oxia Planum, landing site of the ExoMars Rosalind Franklin Rover, named after female scientist, Rosalind Franklin. I am using multiple orbital datasets to investigate the mineralogy, morphology and stratigraphy of Oxia Planum. The scope of this work also covers pre-mission readiness for the Panoramic Camera (PanCam) on the rover. We aim to support ground operations of the rover. I am working with Dr. Gordon Osinski, Dr. Christy Caudill and Dr. Livio Tornabene for this project.
As part of my Masters thesis, I investigated the Smythii basin on the Moon using remote sensing tools. I utilized visual interpretation, spectral analysis and age determination techniques to reveal stratigraphic relationships between the various units and understand the geological evolution of this basin. I worked with Dr. Mamta Chauhan in this project.
As part of my first Masters thesis, I investigated the sediments from Ny Alesund in Svalbard to infer paleoclimatic history in the last 10,000 years. I performed magnetic susceptibility measurements for a sediment core and used them as a proxy to assess the variation in weathering rates over time. This project was undertaken with Dr. Ratan Kar.
