Now where were we, ah yes! The HSE is the Health Service Executive in Ireland. And a ransomware is a malicious actor infiltrates a victim's system, encrypts their important data, and then demands a ransom payment in exchange for decrypting the files and restoring access to the date, essentially holding the victim's information hostage until the ransom is paid. Now this ransomware attack effected Rotunda Maternity Hospital, Cork University Hospital, and Tipperay University Hospital.
