I am trying to find the place where LogMeIn Control Panel saves settings, so I can script the installation, minimizing technician time and the number of dissimilar installations. The options I want to change are not adjustable during installation.

We just started to experience a situation where LogMeIn AV has focused in on a USB printer and is showing some weird behavior. The Event Log shows "Device control - A device has been removed from your system Device Name Boca BIDI...." Right after that we see "Device Control - A new device has been detected on your system. Device name Boca BIDI..." So, this is a direct attached USB Boca printer. It is plug and play. It appears that AV removes it, then Windows adds it back. This series of Event logs is endless. We do have Logmein AV on other workstations with Boca printers and we do not see this behavior. Support told me to make a policy with exceptions for the drivers. I did that. I also checked do not scan USB on that policy and applied it to the workstation. The machine has been rebooted and a day later, the same behavior continues. Anyone else seen this ? Any resolutions ? suggestions ?

The Macbook Pro 2018 has the same issue with th pop up of the security and Privacy settings on restart of the OS or restart of the Logmein Host app. My logmein client can connect to the 2018 MacBook pro but I cannot remote control it. I also tested remote connection from the iMac to this one and it also cannot remote control it.

No, I have not. I did place a call to LogMeIn tech support. The Macbook 3000+ miles away called in to Logmein also and we had about a 45 min call where LogMeIn tech used the Rescue product to connect to the host machine and the client machine and worked through the security and privacy settings. Then the tech pulled in a level 2 support person to the problem. I couldn't keep up with what they were doing on the host machine that was 3000 miles away but they opened a terminal session and were making modifications to host application. In the end they were able to get remote control working on the host. So, thats great. However the issue of the security and privacy setting window popping up anytime you reboot the MacBook, or if you shut down the host process and start it back is not resolved. They were saying this will be 'normal' behavior . I expressed that this is not acceptable because it confuses the user I am supporting with popup about security.

Anyone who has Mojave Mac or Cataline is advised to go to System Preferences, Privacy and Security, then Privacy tab then Accessibility on the left, click the lock to make changes, enter Mac Credentials, then make sure check marks in LmiGui Agent and Lmi then go down to Input Monitoring, put check marks in anything lmi related. go down to Screeen Recorder and do the same instructions and then full disk access.

So total you should be looking for Accessibility, Input monitoring, Full disk Access, and Screen Recorder, and checking off anything LMI(logmein ) related.

If that doesn't solve the issue, then restart the Mac and go back to these instructions

On odd occasion, I need to connect to one of my home computers to get a file, kick off a download or one of those random things that need doing. I have used LogMeIn for a while for this very purpose across my Windows PCs, MacBook Pro and also my iPad to make sure I can get to other computers when and where required.

However, you might run into issues where LogMeIn appears to hang or the window of the remote computer just stops updating for apparently no reason. If you experience this from time to time then this tip might assist.

OK - I had an issue with Microsoft Office that forced me to call them for help. During the call, the tech had me download their LogMeIn helper app so that he could remotely admin my computer. Once we were done, I dragged the LogMeIn app to the trash and secure-emptied. I used Spotlight to find anything that contained the "logmein" string and found nothing. Yet every time I restart my MBA the applet launches. How can I get rid of this?

Thank you. After much searching, I found this to be the correct response for how to remove logmein rescue from Mac OSX 10.7.5. As you correctly point out, LogMeIn files are hidden from the normal spotlight search. Therefore you do need to set system files as searchable using the advanced search options you describe for Finder before spotlight will reveal them for deletion.

I also need to remove LogMeIn. But when I get to the step where I search for "logmein" and/or "logmeinrescue" my Mac does not find anything. I have not yet deleted anything from LogMeIn. What should I do now?

Previously up to Firefox v.25 there was a LogmeIn extension, which stopped working in v.26. I removed that, but Firefox behaves as if I still have an appropriate extension, and never offers the install of a new one as per the logmein document just mentioned.

Thank you for your advice. On starting the LogMeIn process, there was unfortunately no change, and the push download appeared, was installed but would not start - just as before. I do have a logmein app in the firefox setup config now, that describes it as an app, so that is a step forward.

It is named logmein client.exe and now I know why it 'does not start' - it is because I have win 7 pro, which enabled me to set a group policy preventing execution of anything in appdata\local except what I allow. As soon as I managed to rediscover how I did that (!!) and allowed logmein client.exe, the app now works.

After much testing and trying, I figured out what the problem is. The logmein client installs itself with a cookie. Very important. My FF was set up to delete cookies upon exit. When I leave the cookies alive for the next session, it doesn't require the reinstalling of the logmein client.

Thanks #gallicbear2, but it was not cookies preventing app start, it was a self-imposed group policy on where the app is installed. I can now run the app, only to find it no longer seems to support the pro features - one of which, file transfers - is vital to me. Very, very irritating.

You might think the temp folder, but much more important lately is the user appdata folder - usually at C:\users\\AppData\local\LogMeIn (in this case). Now it is becoming increasingly used by malware, because more or less by definition, any application has unrestricted access to %appdata% without having to know where that is, and can drop exe's there and execute them, with full rights of the local user.

About IE11 and Firefox etc, my IT assistant has found this for me -management/logmein-impending-death-browser-plugins If you want a good laugh, read the dozens of highly critical customer posts that are on there. LMI has shot both feet, but is blaming Firefox.

The new biz will be headquartered in Boston, where LogMeIn is based. A bunch of LogMeIn staff moved into renovated office space in San Francisco just over a year ago, right above El Reg's floor. Citrix is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

No. There is nothing in the current GDPR regulation that prevents or suggests this requirement. The GDPR does outline that Data Processors must protect personal data appropriately, regardless of where it is stored. Further, the GDPR does not invalidate or override the EU Model Clauses (which are part of GoTo's GDPR-compliant DPA) which is a valid mechanism to ensure the legal transfer of personal data into and out of the EU. 0852c4b9a8
