This two-week event consists of several complementary activities:
Short Course on Topics in Mathematical Theory of Deep Learning (December 29, 2025 – January 4, 2026)
Instructors: Chuqi Chen (UMich), Tong Mao (KAUST), Jonathan W. Siegel (Texas A&M University), Jinchao Xu (KAUST), Yahong Yang (Georgia Tech)
The short course will focus on the mathematical properties of neural networks, multilevel iterative methods for partial differential equations.
9am-10:30am Mathematical Theory of Generative AI
11am-12:30pm Mathematical Theory of Neural Networks
During this session, participants will also engage in focused group discussions and collaborative project work. The goal is to foster interaction among researchers, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and lay the groundwork for joint research initiatives. Small groups will be formed to explore specific scientific machine learning challenges, share methodological insights, and develop initial project proposals. Further details, including the schedule, titles, and abstracts, can be found here.
Workshop on Recent Advances (January 5 - 6, 2026 )
The workshop will bring together researchers to discuss cutting-edge topics in scientific machine learning, particularly the growing synergy between data-driven modeling and emerging mathematical methodologies. Special emphasis will be placed on hybrid approaches that integrate machine learning techniques with numerical methods for partial differential equations, highlighting their applications in science, engineering, and the life sciences. Further details, including the schedule, titles, and abstracts, can be found here.
