When did Gospel music originate? When is the music played?
Gospel music can be tracked back to the early 17th century. Hymns and sacred songs were often performed in a call and response. Heavily influenced by ancestral African music. Most of the churches relied on hand clapping and foot stomping as accompaniment. Most of the singing was done a cappella.
Traditional Black gospel music is the most well–known form, often seen in Black churches, non–Black churches, and in entertainment spaces across the country and world.
Gospel is usually play in the day during church hours or it is played regularly when people are in the mood.
