Events

WEMP participates in a variety of outreach events around Madison, WI. We facilitate interactive learning via exploration stations at Family Science Nights at Madison public schools, community centers, public gardens, Saturday Science at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and more. We also lead inquiry-based discoveries in classroom-style events with groups including Latino Youth Summit, Centro Hispano, Wisconsin Fast Plants, Expanding Your Horizons, The Wisconsin Youth Institute, American Phytopathological Society, Nuestro Mundo Community School, Madison Area Technical College, and more!

Currently, in-person outreach activities have been restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are busy creating virtual plant science content and social media content for you to enjoy with the young scientists in your life. Check out the publicly available outreach materials here!

Exploration Stations

At our exploration stations, visitors touch, see, and learn about microbes that interact with plants! Microbial and plant samples, coloring, and mini games are just some of the things visitors can explore.

Classroom Events

In classroom events, we engage students in various inquiry-based activities to foster discovery of the microbial world and its impact on our lives.
