My iphone 13 notification volume is very low. It's very annoying. It's a company phone, I'm missing notifications from my boss, and I can't sit and stare at my phone all day. I'm very frustrated, nothing is working.

I did notice that along with my text tones volume being about 30% lower than my ringer volume. even when I pick the same tone.. that some of my purchased tone sounds were missing.. last nights update restored them back to where they were.. BUT still having issues with the lower volume on the text notifications.. I have tried every solution on this message board with no luck.. Actually, I had someone vandalize my mailbox in the middle of the night because I didn't hear my text notifications from my security camera.. this needs to be fixed asap!!! it is definitely some sort of bug in the update.

Has Apple found a solution to this? I've been calling and having this issue for over a year. It does the same to GPS. Almost got in accident due to almost missing my exit from not hearing GPS notifications

Found a somewhat unsatisfactory solution. After turning off bluetooth the alerts are at the expected level. For me , Bluetooth always appears to be searching, with the spinning disk there all the time, thought it connects fine to known devices. It may be related to 'MFI Hearing Devices', under Accessability>Hearing Devices, which also shows a spinning disk whenever Bluetooth is switched on.

There is definitely something odd going on with the sound level volume being low for certain types of notifications--specifically any of the non-Ringtone alerts, e.g., Text Tone, New Mail, etc.; hear me out--on my iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 17.3.1--however, issue has been present in numerous previous iOS versions) I can replicate the notification volume level issue as follows: I have the "Sleep Time Free" app installed on my phone; when I enable/start the sleep timer on it, then go into the phone Settings -> Sounds & Haptics -> Text Tone and select any one of my alert tones I notice that the alert tone volume is very loud...but when I stop the sleep timer in the Sleep Time Free app and then go back into Settings -> Sounds & Haptics -> Text Tone and select the (same) alert tone, the alert tone volume is now noticeably quite a bit lower; I can replicate this at will. It is not just one specific alert tone either--I can select a different alert tone (even the iOS-provided ones) and it'll do the same high/low volume thing too, and as previously mentioned it occurs on any of the other non-Ringtone alert types too; oddly enough the Ringtone volume stays at a consistent volume level regardless of whether I start the sleep timer in the app. And actually you don't really even need to go into the Sound settings and select an alert tone to perform the test--the phone lock sound is affected similarly as well.

Obviously I'm not gonna be letting the sleep timer run 24x7 just so that my text and/or other notification alert tones will sound very loud but clearly someway, somehow the Sleep Time Free app is able to manipulate the notification volume level. Kinda odd that starting the sleep timer (in the app) would actually cause the alert tone volume to increase--you'd think it should have it decreased so that you're not awakened by a very loud alert tone notification while you're asleep.

One thing I have noticed is that my iPhone 7, after upgrading to iOS 11, and iOS 11.0.1, will receive and properly display notifications if the screen is unlocks, but it will not if the screen is locked. The screen stays off, not notification sounds, nothing to indicate that an alert has arrived. I have also noticed that if my phone has bluetooth turned off (in settings) then it does display notifications properly when the phone is locked. I'm not sure why bluetooth is preventing lock screen notifications from working properly, but that seems to be the case for me.

My problem with message tones is this: when a new conversation is started I get a notification tone, but for subsequent messages the tone reverts to a kind of Swoosh in reverse, not audible unless you're looking out for it. If I make any changes in the course of the conversation such as choosing a new tone, the next incoming message sounds it correctly, then subsequent messages lose that tone again. I have checked Messages, Notifications and Sounds settings, have restarted and hard reset, and re-installed iOS11. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issues with my Iphone 8 Plus. When the screen is locked my phone doesn't vibrate or make a sound when I get an e-mail or text message. I think it has something to do with IOS 11. I reset my phone numerous times. It will work for awhile and then stop working. It's very frustrating.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue yet? When my screen is locked I get no notification that I have a text message. I only know when I open my phone and see the badge app icon. All notification settings correct, this has only started happening since the ios 11 update.

An update: bluetooth was the culprit in my case. Apple's fakakta decision to only disconnect bluetooth and wifi from the control center, not disable them, muddied the waters. Going into Settings and truly turning off bluetooth got my audio text notifications back 100%. I stream music daily via bluetooth so this is a pain to implement.

Bluetooth seems to be the culprit here as correctly isolate by a few contributors. Switching OFF BT (from settings and not from control panel) restores sounds/notifications for messages/whatsapp etc and switching BT back on disables the sounds.

I am having the same issue with iOS 11 on my 6S. no notifications on lock screen, all settings are correct and I have just done a full restore. Frustrating. I am on AT&T, not sure if it a carrier issue with iOS or not, but figured I'd mention since I also restored network setting too, hoping that might help.

Middle of the night, finally realised what is happening: you don't get a message tone if the conversation is open. Close the conversation so that you only see the headers, and the tone sounds just fine. On the iPad that means having a New Message open so that existing conversations aren't visible. I can go to bed now.

Did the restore, it didn't fix the problem. My phone is still inconsistently sounding text notifications with: bluetooth off or on, for imessage and SMS, using default and custom tones. It's definitely ios11-related.

I was also frustrated by this problem. The suggestion regarding the special feature in IOS 11 to HIDE ALERTS for a single conversation was the answer. Swipe left on the conversation just like DELETING and you will see a new second feature. it will say either Hide or Show Alerts. If it says SHOW you have inadvertently done a HIDE before. I'm not sure how it happened because the person that it happened for was someone I would never try to DELETE, and this is the first I have heard of this feature. Sort of a Do Not Disturb for a single contact.

I suspected Bluetooth is the culprit and when I have a device connected. It affects text and phone notifications. Notifications are coming through the device but not the phone. Which means if I take my headset off I am effectively on DND.

The default notification sound is the actual tone that text messages uses. If you change it there it will change for the texts. Gmail, and the phone dialer have their own ability to change their respective tones. Whatsapp also has it's own setting.

Problem: "WhatsApp notification sound is not working on my iPhone. It is weird but I no longer get the notification sounds from WhatsApp. And the problem only happens to WhatsApp. Other apps like SMS messages still have notification tones. Try restarting the phone but still no luck. Any suggestion?"

Solution: The problem that WhatsApp notification sound is not working happens not only on iPhone but also on Android devices, like Samsung, OnePlus, LG. Some lost the notification tones after a WhatsApp or software update; others are having the problem because the custom notification tone doesn't work on their phones. Here we have 7 solutions to resolve WhatsApp notification sound not working on iPhone, Samsung, and more.

You could press the Volume Up button to increase sound to see if it make sense. As for iPhone, check if the Ring/Silent switch (usually next to the volume key) is turned on. If the switch shows orange, your iPhone is in silent mode and you have to move the switch to Ring mode.

As for iPhone users, you need to go to Settings > Notifications first. Find out WhatsApp in the Notification Style and tap it. Finally, tap the Allow notification toggle till it turns green. Also, toggle on the button for Sound.

Since there is no Log Out button in WhatsApp, we need to sign out by deleting the data from your device. To make sure you don't lose your chats, you need to back them up first before logging out of your account.

If you own an iPhone 8 or earlier, you should double press the Home button first to see your most recently used apps. Swipe left or right to find out WhatsApp and swipe it up off the screen to close WhatsApp.

If you own an iPhone X, you should swipe up from the home screen and you'll see the running apps. Also, swipe left or right to find out WhatsApp, then you can swipe it up off the screen or click the red minus symbol to force stop WhatsApp.

You could reinstall WhatsApp to fix the problems. But since reinstalling WhatsApp will delete all your chats, you should back up WhatsApp messages and photos on your phone before reinstalling. If you are using an iPhone and would like to back up WhatsApp messages and media files to a computer, you can use iOS Data Backup & Restore, which allows you to restore individual WhatsApp chats instead of the whole chat history. 152ee80cbc
