After installing, you'll need to sync WhatsApp on your smartphone and desktop. Once you're all synced and ready to go, you can change the WhatsApp Desktop video settings. To change the WhatsApp Desktop default video options, you'll have to launch a call with someone. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the option outside of a call, which seems like an oversight.

That's all there is to it. When you want to switch between video inputs, you'll have to make another call to change your settings again. Having to make a video call to change settings is somewhat irritating, so hopefully, Meta (WhatsApp's parent company) will change this functionality soon.

For now, changing the WhatsApp camera option is only available to the WhatsApp Desktop app. But for those waiting for this functionality to come to the smartphone app, you'll continue to wait for a long time. It's unlikely that WhatsApp will ever allow users to change the camera settings for the smartphone app, as doing so presents a security risk.

Hi, I noticed that on my new iphone 14 that my camera is being by whatsapp even when the app is closed and removed from the background. Is that an iPhone bug or is it indeed being used and my security is compromised ? did this happen to anybody ?

I am facing the same issue of whatsapp using my camera, even if I close the app in background and even if I turn of my camera access from the settings still it shows that whatsapp is using my camera, it is really scary but whenever that happens I just restart my device and it goes away.

To use your camera with apps on Windows 11, you'll need to turn on some permissions in Camera settings. Then, you'll need to check your app permissions if you want to use your camera with apps. Here's how:

Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera, then make sure Camera access is turned on. This setting lets any user on the device choose if they want apps to be able to access the camera.

If you don't see an app in the list, it might be a desktop app. Find Let desktop apps access your camera and make sure it's turned on. You can't change camera access settings for individual desktop apps.

Desktop apps might include apps installed from the internet, a USB drive, or apps installed by your IT admin. Internet browsers, like Microsoft Edge, and video conferencing apps, like Microsoft Teams, are desktop apps that need this setting to be turned on.

Find Allow apps to access your camera and make sure it's turned on. This setting allows you to choose if any of your apps can access the camera. It doesn't set which specific apps can access the camera.

Once you've allowed camera access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app. In Camera settings, go to Choose which Microsoft apps can access your camera, and turn on camera access for the apps you want.

Lastly, if nothing else works, you can uninstall WhatsApp from your phone and install it again. This will help get rid of any corrupt app data that may have been causing issues with the WhatsApp camera.

Just got a Nord 2 a week ago. Great phone, but one BIG problem. In WhatsApp, both the front and back camera are not aligned. If I hold the selfie cam in front of my face, half my face is outside the frame, even though I'm sitting right in front of it. The rear camera looks right, but when I take a picture, it's slightly off center.

I'm trying to scan the WhatsApp web QR code on my computer. On my Android Whatsapp, I'm able to get to the point where the scanner is active, and the green scan bar goes up and down, but it never manages to capture the QR code on my computer screen.

The camera lense on my HTC One X is slightly scratched up, and the camera pictures has long been foggy. I suspect that the combination of my crappy camera and the computer LCD screen is preventing me from scanning the QR code.

Did you set the camera and microphone that you actually intended to use rather than the default ones in WhatsApp? How long have you been using the WhatsApp desktop app on your PC and Mac without knowing about this hidden hardware selection menu? Share with us your experiences and feel free to drop your valuable feedback in the comments section down below.

I have M1 MacBook Pro. Every time I try to switch to my DSLR camera using elgato camlink 4k in WhatsApp video call, it keeps telling me that the capture card is being used in other software, even if no other software is opened. What should I do ?

Photos and videos sent to me in Whatsapp are automatically appearing in my Gallery (on Huawei P30) but are not then syncing to Dropbox. Not sure how long this has been happening. I'm sure they used to sync along with my other photos and videos but have only just noticed so now am missing lots of photos from friends and family and have no idea how to find them. As well as setting this up for the future, is there a way to force sync everything that has been sent to me in Whatsapp?

I dont want to loose the photos and videos, but at the same time i dont want to store them locally on my phone, is there a way i can store them in iCloud ? Ideally i dont want to store the photos / videos to my camera roll, but would like to just unload some of the whatsapp data to the cloud.

I think there is a feature in whatsapp where you can export a chat / group inc the messages and media, but my phone is so full with whatsapp i cant even export this data as there is no space free to export it too !

What i think the best solution is: Go to Whatsapp -> Settings -> Chats. Enable Save to camera roll. From now, all your incoming photos and videos will be saved automatically into your Photo app. The name of the album with the saved photos and videos is called WhatsApp. But the incoming photos and videos are also saved locally in the WhatsaApp app.

Unfortunately there is no way to do this. You can only import all your media to camera roll, and then group them manually into albums which you can name like the group the photos came from, and then delete them from WhatsApp. By this you free the storage as the photos will be stored in iCloud, and you can still associate them to the group. When the porblem occurs again, you just have to put the new photos in the albums, that should be less work than the first time.

To use both voice and video calls, you should check that you have a camera, a microphone, and speakers. Most laptops ship with a webcam, a built-in microphone, and a pair of speakers. However, if you have a desktop, you might not have one or two of these devices.

To complete the linking process, you'll have to authenticate using fingerprint or face unlock on your smartphone. Once you do that, WhatsApp will open your phone's camera. Point it at the QR code on your computer to start using WhatsApp on desktop.

We're entering the home stretch now. Just open any chat in WhatsApp on your computer and click the phone icon to make a voice call. The phone icon is in the top bar of the chat window next to the camera icon.

Once you're on a desktop call on WhatsApp, you'll see four icons onscreen---camera, microphone, three-dot icon, and a red end call button. With voice calls, these icons will appear along with your contact's name in the top right of the screen. If you're on a video call, you'll see these icons inside the video window.

The three-dot icon will open camera and video settings. It allows you to change the camera, microphone, and audio output device. You can use this if you want to use an external microphone instead of the built-in option, for example.

JavaScript is a scripting language used to add functions to pages, such as manipulating browser windows. In rare cases, JavaScript may be used intrusively to perform certain actions you may find annoying. For these cases, you can turn it off completely. If you do, some pages will not work as designed. To change JavaScript settings:

Opera will try to distinguish pop-ups that you have requested (login pages, for example) from pop-ups launched automatically from websites, such as advertising. By default, Opera will block pop-ups you have not requested. You can control how Opera handles pop-ups. To change pop-up settings:

WhatsApp automatically downloads new photos and videos that are sent to you. These are stored on your phone, but can also be saved to your camera roll. An updated version of WhatsApp now gives you more control over what media is stored on your phone. 9af72c28ce
