What For Lunch? is a meal-picker app designed to help you randomly choose what to eat. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
The app stores the following data exclusively on your device using a local database. This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
Data Type
Purpose
Your food list (item names, active/inactive status)
Powers the spin wheel with your personalized list.
Spin history (food name, timestamp)
Displays your past picks in the History screen.
Selected country preference
Remembers your last chosen country filter.
We use Google Firebase services to improve app stability and performance.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google) When the app crashes, an anonymized crash report is sent automatically to help us fix the issue. Reports contain:
Device model and iOS version
App version
Stack trace (the specific code location of the crash)
A randomly-generated installation ID (resets completely upon reinstall)
Note: No name, email address, or any personally identifiable information (PII) is ever included in these reports.
Firebase Remote Config (Google) The app downloads configuration flags (e.g., checking whether remote food data updates are enabled). No personal data is sent or tracked.
Firebase Storage (Google) The app downloads pre-made food data files (JSON) based on your selected country. No personal data is uploaded.
All Firebase services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We care deeply about your privacy. We do not collect, request, or have access to:
Name, email address, or any account information (the app has no sign-in or user accounts)
Real-time location data
Camera or microphone input
Contacts
Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties, except for the strictly anonymized crash reports automatically sent to Firebase Crashlytics as described above.
On-device data (food list, spin history): Stored locally on your device until you manually clear the app data or uninstall the app.
Crash reports: Retained securely by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days in accordance with Google's retention policy.
What For Lunch? is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Furthermore, our automated crash reports contain absolutely no personal data.
You have full control over your data. You can completely delete all on-device data at any time by:
Going to iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → What For Lunch? → Delete App, or
Simply uninstalling the app from your home screen.
For crash report data held by Firebase Crashlytics, please refer to Google's Data Deletion Instructions.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will reflect the most recent updates. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
