Can freshman/sophomores or people with limited programming knowledge attend meetings?
Yes, we believe there is something to learn even if you're just starting your journey. We work hard to make our meeting inclusive to all skill levels and would love to have you join us. Please if your on the fence, just try it out!
Is it too early for me to start thinking about internships or career development?
You should begin when you are ready, but we believe that you can begin immediately. Our club will work hard to provide you opportunities that you are interested and help connect you different people to find what may interest you
I'm not sure if I'm interested in Computer Science (or I'm not a CS major), will there still be value in joining this club?
Yes! We are not a computer science specific club. Technology is an interdisciplinary subject with overlaps in Psychology, Sociology, Biology, Chemistry and every other field. Compute is intertwined in everything! We would love to show you how and also love for you to bring your unique perspective and interests to the mix!
What should I do to be successful in the CS program and acquire internships/good job opportunities?
Start building things right away - The CS curriculum is great for giving you a theoretical foundation, but it will not teach you how to build projects. Our club will teach you how to use modern technologies to build projects and help you iterate on any project ideas you have!
Find specific subareas in CS that you are interested in - Computer Science is a large and interdisciplinary field. Trying to learn everything will make you burnout and mediocre at everything. Our club will expose you to the different areas of CS as well as roles in tech!
Start practicing Leetcode problems as early as possible - Interviews for tech are broken, but it is the reality we live in. It takes time to learn how to approach problems and time to master them. Our club will not only give you study guides for how to effectively practice, but also study groups and mentorship to maximize your interview skills!
