Get Zoiper and set up an extension on the server that connects to Zoiper. I use IAX connections for this (which is why I recommend Zoiper) but you can use SIP extensions with good passwords and any other VOIP app on your smartphone.

If you use a stupidphone (the opposite of a smartphone), you can use DISA to dial through your PBX to make your cell phone appear to be inside the network, and you can set up a corresponding extension that forwards any incoming calls you want to send to your cell phone number.

If you have a personal account, you will need to generate a Temporary Port Out PIN to move your phone number from T-Mobile. Use the steps below to generate your PIN, then provide it to your new service provider.

Please note: While text messages are normally very quick it can sometimes take up to 24 hours for the message with your Temporary Port Out PIN to be received during extreme cases. Please wait before requesting a new PIN. You can only receive a maximum of 8 PINs in a 24-hour period.

The thing is that I've been using this mobile number since 2004, and it is still active and it is on me, and I can make calls, text, etc. It is not like I got a new number which belonged to someone else.

Is there a way to unlink my mobile number from another account? How can I make sure that my account is safe? The person that confirmed may also see any Facebook SMS notifications that will be sent to me.

To port your number out of Google Voice, first you need to unlock the number. Then, let your carrier know you want to port a number to their service. Work with them until the porting process is complete.

FCC rules require simple ports, which generally do not involve more than one line or more complex adjustments to telephone switching equipment, to be processed in one business day. You may be able to use your phone within a few hours for changes among wireless service providers. However, porting from wireline to wireless service may still take a few days.

If you port from a wireline phone to a wireless phone, there may be a period when you have two telephones with the same number. Ask your new wireless company whether you will be able to continue using your current wireline number during the one-day transfer process.

Wireless 911 location and callback services (where available) may be affected during the transition. Calls should go through, but 911 operators may not be able to call you back if disconnected. Before porting, ask your new company if your 911 service will be affected during the process.

Also, some rural wireline service providers may obtain waivers for the porting requirement from state authorities. Their customers may be unable to port their number to a new provider. If you are unable to port your number for that reason, contact your state public utilities commission for further information.

Moving your number (aka, porting out) is when you move your Verizon line of service or all of your lines of service to a different carrier.

You must keep the Verizon account open until the move is completed.

Important: Don't disconnect your Verizon line of service until after your number is moved. Otherwise you must reactivate your Verizon number before your new carrier can move it.

Note: If your line has Number Lock on, to protect against unauthorized moves, you'll see a notice in My Verizon. You must turn off Number Lock before moving a number. See: How do I turn off Number Lock?

Fraud prevention tip: We send a confirmation text to any mobile number that requested a move. If you didn't authorize the transfer, call the number in our message.

Business accounts:

Business accounts don't need a Number Transfer PIN to move a number:

*If you don't have the phone which has the number you want to transfer, you can use another smartphone, tablet or computer. Follow the My Verizon website steps above.

** If you or a loved one need to move mobile lines due to intimate partner violence or abuse, call Customer Service at 800-922-0204. Learn more about Managing your Verizon mobile line in a domestic violence situation.

A scammer who gets your personal information could move your mobile number to another carrier. This is called an "unauthorized port out". The scammer then could get your calls and texts to take control of other accounts, like banking and social media.

You can set up Number Lock for free to protect your mobile number from an unauthorized move. That number can't be moved to another line or carrier unless you remove the lock.

Note: Number Lock on your number doesn't help prevent SIM card changes or equipment changes to your device.

You can set up Number Lock by dialing *611 or on the Number Lock page in My Verizon:

My Verizon app: Tap Settings > Number Lock > Choose number

My Verizon website:

Before you can move a number to another device or carrier, be sure Number Lock is turned off. Turn off Number Lock by dialing *611 or use My Verizon:

My Verizon app: Tap the Settings > Number Lock > Choose number.

Planning to take your mobile device along on an international trip? Roaming rules and rates vary from one carrier to the next and can be complex, so take time to understand them before you travel. Advance preparation can prevent disappointments, such as lack of service or unexpected charges on your next bill.

Text messages are often used by banks, businesses and payment services to verify your identity when you request updates to your account. Savvy scammers know that by hijacking your mobile phone number they can assume your identity, intercept security protocols sent to your phone, and gain access to your financial and social media accounts.

One way to hijack your phone number is through a porting-out scam. Mobile phone numbers can legally be ported from one provider to the next when you switch your phone service. Phone companies have established safeguards to protect this process, such as having account holders set up a PIN or a password they must provide when calling about their account. But scammers with enough of your personal information can interfere, hijacking your phone number and with it your identity.

When you change your mobile number in the My Verizon app or online in My Verizon, you can select the area code and prefix. The last 4 digits will be automatically assigned to you based on what's available.

If you want to bring a number to Verizon from another carrier, see Bring your number to Verizon FAQs.

If you choose to change your number today, it should happen immediately once you complete the process and follow the instructions for resetting your phone. If you don't choose today, the number will change at midnight ET of the chosen day, and then you'll need to follow the instructions given to you for resetting your phone.

You can change your mobile number on the Change mobile number page in My Verizon.

Note: You can select the area code and prefix for your new mobile number. The last 4 digits will be automatically assigned to you based on what's available.

Caller identification lets your friends, family, and business contacts know that it's you calling them or sending an SMS message. When you set up caller identification, your mobile number or Skype Number is displayed when you call mobiles and landlines from Skype.

As of December 2018, if you purchase a Skype Number and don't have Caller ID enabled, your Skype Number will be automatically set as your Caller ID for the countries that this is available in.

To change to your Skype Number if you had Caller ID enabled with another number:

It may take up to 24 hours to activate caller identification for mobile numbers. Before the activation, you will receive the SMS text message confirming that caller identification is about to be activated.

But, in the next tab over "Communication Preferences > Alert Preferences", under "Text Message", the new number does not appear. My Home number is VOIP & so I selected that one instead. That's fine, that works. However, I would like the new mobile number to appear & the old mobile number to disappear. Right now under "Text Message" I see my Home number & the old Mobile number. I did just update the Account settings yesterday.

To cancel this service, text the word "STOP", call (844-xxx-xxx) or change your notification preferences in your member portal. After you have opted out of the service we may send you a text message confirming the termination of your mobile alert service.

No, my old mobile number is still there, & my new mobile number is not. I did speak with a couple LifeLock reps, one on the phone & the other on Chat, both believe I do need to put the old SIM back in the phone & text Stop. Not sure they understood exactly what I was saying, it is hard to describe, kind of need to see it. Here's a snip of the screen I'm referring to. I've replaced my email address with "My email", my Google Voice phone number with "Google Voice #" & my old Mobile phone number with "Old Mobile #".

I only want my old mobile number to disappear from the Text Message dropdown window, and my new mobile to appear in the drop down. Currently, my Home number (which is Google Voice) is selected in the dropdown window, & it works fine for texting. But I may want to use my new Mobile number at some point.

Have you had any alerts sent to the new text number? To me, it looks like you have set things up for that to work. It should not affect anything by having the old number in the dropdown list, as that would only be used if you selected that option at some time. That setting is probably for users that might have two active mobile numbers that they might have some reason to switch between the two. 006ab0faaa
