Sewage Treatment
Sewage treatment treats the sewage produced from commercial, residential and industrial areas. The treatment processes are:
· Screening and grinding - Mechanical screens are used to remove materials like plastic that are introduced into the raw wastewater from it. This is largely caused by people flushing things down the toilet that shouldn't be flushed. This is pulled out and dumped into a container to be transported to a landfill via a screen conveyor.
· Clarifiers and settling tanks. - They enable the solids to remove themselves from the water. Some things, like grease, float while others sink. From the organic ingredients, this is extracted and separated.
· Aerobic digestion - There are two categories of bacteria. The first, often known as aerobic organisms, require oxygen to survive and breakdown organic matter like excrement. The sludge—organics that were isolated from the water in the previous process—enters an area where air is bubbled through it to encourage their growth.
· Anaerobic digestion - After the aerobic bacteria have consumed all the sludge they can, the sludge is transferred to a storage tank that is sealed off from oxygen and heated. In this environment-friendly bacteria take control and start producing methane. It takes several weeks to complete this operation. The majority of the leftover water is then drained from the sludge by passing it through a press after it has been put onto a conveyor. The sludge currently resembles and smells like a very rich soil, which it actually is. It is spread out to dry and used as fertilizer on farms.
· Final Clarification - Any remaining solids in the water are settled out using further clarifiers after the water is evacuated. It appears to be clean water right now.
· Disinfection - To eliminate any leftover bacteria, the water is now put through a procedure before being thrown into a nearby creek.
Working of effluent treatment plant
A. Preliminary treatment is to physically separate large pollutants. This level/process consists of the following:
· Screening.

· Clarifiers
B. Primary treatment: Its goal is to remove items that float and settle, such as suspended solids and organic waste. This therapy employs both physical and chemical approaches. It contains the following items:
· Flocculation

C. Secondary or biological treatment: The goal of this treatment is to further treat the primary treatment effluent in order to eliminate suspended particles and residual organics. This stage involves biological and chemical mechanisms.

D. Tertiary/advanced/disinfection treatment: The goal of tertiary treatment is to provide a final treatment step to improve effluent quality before it is reused, recycled, or released into the environment.
· Chemical coagulation and sedimentation
