Story & Experience over Product: Following Odin’s belief that art isn’t just about the object itself but about how it connects with its owner — we create pieces meant to be experienced, cherished, displayed, and passed on.
Local Culture & Roots: Angela makes sure to keep designs grounded in the local spirit — celebrating regional landmarks, marine heritage (whaling, sea themes), coastal vibes, and the charm of New England culture.
Nature, Myth & Heritage: Through Adam’s emerging woodworking, we pay homage to centuries-old traditions — especially drawing from Norse/Viking craftsmanship philosophies, where woodcarving was both practical and deeply symbolic.
Community & Collaboration: As a co-op, we believe in supporting fellow artists — combining varied skills (woodworking, illustration, design, fabrication) to build unique, handcrafted pieces. We see ourselves as more than a business: a small creative collective collaborating toward one shared mission.
Function Meets Art: Like the artisans of old, we appreciate when everyday objects — whether signage, décor, furniture, or keepsakes — carry artistry. We build pieces that are useful, visually meaningful, and imbued with character.
Whaling City Masterworks isn’t a one-man show. Alongside Odin, Angela, and Adam, we are joined by a handful of other creative artists (each with their own skills and styles), united under one shared banner. We learn from each other, collaborate on projects big and small, and combine our talents to offer something richer than any individual could on their own.
Whether you’re looking for nautical-inspired signage, custom décor, wood-crafted furniture, local-culture souvenirs, or artisan gifts that tell a story — we pour our hearts, our skills, and our inspirations into every piece.
From his earliest childhood drawing win at age 4, Odin’s creative journey has always been guided by a blend of artistry and craftsmanship. Raised working on a family homestead — building, growing, creating — he learned early that shaping raw materials by hand held deeper meaning than merely producing an object. His skillset grew from basic tools at age 10 into a life devoted to sculpture, woodworking, and large-scale installations. Today, Odin isn’t just about making art — he’s about inspiring experiences. His vision stretches beyond the piece itself: he aims to create work that interacts with people, evokes wonder, and becomes part of a shared space.
Angela brings heart, detail, and a deep love of place to everything she touches. Inspired by the surrounding community, local art, culture, and those small but meaningful souvenirs and keepsakes that tell a story, she builds designs that resonate with memory and identity. Animals, homey décor, and nature-themed motifs often find their way into her creations — a reflection of her belief that everyday items can carry warmth, personality, and a sense of belonging.
Goody is newer to the craft, but his ambition and inspiration run deep. He draws from Norse and Viking symbolism as well as the raw beauty of nature — wood grain, organic forms, rugged textures — to begin forging his path as a woodworking artist. His emerging work helps anchor the co-op’s offerings in a sense of timeless craftsmanship and elemental connection.
