So, this is my first post on my blog. Let me do some explaining about what I hope to write and post here about baseball.
Firstly, I'm a junior at the University of Iowa, majoring in computer science and minoring in math and statistics. I'm also a student manager for the university's baseball team. My main focus there is trying to make sense of Trackman data, Rapsodo data, and slow motion and in-game video. I also work part-time at a grocery store to help pay with school and for some pocket change.
From this blog, I hope to be able to post some of my work using data from Trackman, and also do some projects involving MLB players. All the data I get for MLB players is from Baseball Savant (I'll give credit when I use their data in a post). Some work I've done already is swing probabilities on certain pitches for certain hitters, 50-50 probabilities for catchers, and more.
The reason I'm starting this blog is to get my name out there more, and use this as a way to post more of ideas for people to view and also help me improve by giving me ideas, correcting me when I'm wrong, or even expressing their own opinions. My plan is to hopefully post twice or three times a week, with different projects or ideas using a mix of data from here and data found on Baseball Savant. If you have any ideas, let me know! I'd love to be to show people what they want to see in the data.
Thank you for reading this post! Hopefully this is the first post of many.
Below are some projects I'll post sometime soon.
