The 2026 BVWGC Club Championship is in the Books! The annual two-day tournament was held at Highlands and Country Club courses on September 2 and 3. There was LOTS of WINNING involved! Cash prizes were given to the overall flight winners in two divisions, Red and Gold, for gross and net scores over the two days. Awards were also given to multiple closest-to-the-pin (CPT) winners in each flight. 

RED Division - Overall Gross and Net Winner and official “Club Champion”:  Brenda Carr (Total Gross Score = 144, Total Net Score = 145) 

GOLD Division - Overall Gross and Net Winner:  Karen Owens (Total Gross Score = 162, Total Net Score = 156)

Players gathered after the competition on Thursday for the awards luncheon served by BVCC, which included a Taco Bar Buffet with dessert and tea. Wanda Barloon won the 50/50 Drawing for the second day! What are the odds?

Closest to Pin (CTP) Awards

Over the two-day tournament, a total of 26 CTP prizes were awarded.  Each day featured a CTP contest on two holes for each of seven flights. Three players won multiple CTP prizes:

·       Karen Owens (3 CTPs in GOLD Flight A):  #9 and #11 at Highlands; and #17 at BVCC

·       Brenda Carr (2 CTPs in RED Flight 1):  #11 at Highlands; and #17 at BVCC

·       Sarah Huff (2 CTPs in GOLD Flight B): #11 at Highlands; and #17 BVCC

The 2026 Invitational Village Cup Tournament was played on Monday, August 24, Wednesday, August 26, and Friday, August 28. Amy Read served as the tournament director. Twenty-eight players, made up of four teams, competed in this year’s match. The 3-day tournament format included:

Day 1: Four-ball (best ball), played at Kingswood

Day 2: Foursomes (alternate shot), played at Highlands

Day 3: Individual Singles Matches, played at BV Country Club

On Friday, participants enjoyed a buffet award luncheon at the Country Club including chicken or salmon with salads, sides and dessert. During the luncheon, cash prizes were given to the Green Team (1st place) and the Pink Team (2ndplace). Gracie Purvis won the “Treasure Cash” drawing!

Karen Owens got a Hole-in-One on Monday, July 27 at Scotsdale hole #4.  It was her first swing of the day and she knocked it in with a 7 iron!  She was playing with Charlie Wagner and Steve Forsyth.  This was her second ever Hole-in-One, and fortunately, Karen paid into the HIO fund this year, so she's in the pot for the year-end payout.  She also turned in a great round of 76 too!  Congratulations Karen!

Another Hole-in-One for 2026!  Gail Storm got a HIO on July 16 at Kingswood on hole #12.  She was using her Callaway 9 wood with a TaylorMade ball.  Gail's playing partners celebrating with her were Cheryl VanBrunt, Marilyn Fabits, and Marilyn's guest Beth Haymer.  This was her second hole-in-one, with her first one over 10 years ago at Antelope Valley CC in Palmdale, CA.  Congratulations Gail!

On Tuesday,  June 2 Lynn Bowman got a hole-in-one at Scotdale hole number 4!  She was playing in the Tuesday Tees group with Wanda Barloon, Gracie Purvis and Myrlene Zimmerman.  Lynn was using her Callaway driver and a Bridgestone golf  ball.  The unfortunate part...she did not pay in to the annual hole-in-one fund!  On a much brigther note, this was the same hole that Lynn's late husband John got his HIO on their first date 25 years ago!  That's very special.

Wednesday Winter Foxy Saints 11-5-2025 - Dogwood Hole 16

CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Marilyn Fabits for rolling the golf ball in for a “HOLE IN ONE” at Dogwood on Par 3 hole 16 using her 5 hybrid with the ball “BRIDGESTONE”, 108 yards. 

WHO saw it - JACKIE GAIN, PAM JAKOSA & LIN NOWICKI. IT WAS “FABULOUS”!!!!!! Right on to the pin in the hole. “DOWNTOWN “.

This year's Firecracker  was a 2-person handicapped scramble at Kingswood Golf Course with lunch, awards and a brief meeting at the BV Rec Center afterwards.  It was a scorcher, but we had a great day while keeping hydrated!  All photos from this event can be seen here.
