Dr. Weverton Ataide Pinheiro's teaching is grounded in critical pedagogy, guided by the teachings of Brazilian philosopher Paulo Freire. He has taught mathematics in secondary schools and programs in Brazil and the United States before transitioning to higher education. Prior to joining Texas Tech University, Dr. Ataide Pinheiro taught undergraduate courses in mathematics education, including both content-focused and methods-based courses for elementary education majors at Indiana University Bloomington and Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. At Texas Tech, he teaches master’s- and doctoral-level courses for students in Curriculum & Instruction and STEM Education.
