Provided through a contract with Curtin Transportation, this program is available to those 60 and older and those with disabilities under 60 who need transportation within the greater Wethersfield area. Priority is given for medical appointments. Any senior is eligible regardless of financial status, and there is a yearly registration cost of $78. The Connecticut Transit Bus is lift equipped and available to individuals who are ambulatory or in a wheelchair. (standard or electric)
With a Medicare Card (proof of disability) or Connecticut Transit reduced fare card, the cost of fare is 60 cents (discounted half fare at any time of day and exact change is needed). A 10 ride card good for ten one-way rides is also available. If a person is in an electric wheelchair (3 or 4 wheels) one must have a Medicare Card/pass and a wheelchair permit card. To obtain this permit one must arrange a field test with the bus company. Any attendant accompanying the person with disability rides for free of charge.

ADA Paratransit services are provided for individuals who, because of their disability, are unable to travel by a public city bus (CT Transit). ADA Paratransit operates during the same hours as the public city bus (CT Transit) service fixed routes. This includes Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, Manchester and Wethersfield and portions of Newington, Rocky Hill, Glastonbury, Vernon, Tolland, Ellington, South Windsor, Windsor, Windsor Locks, Bloomfield and Farmington.
Call for an ADA application which must be completed along with a short face to face interview and transportation will be provided free of charge to this appointment. This is a door to door service.

Providing transportation to seniors and visually challenged adults for residents in 15 towns in Central Connecticut. Available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for any purpose. No money is exchanged in the vehicle, and riders pre-pay a personal transportation account. Rides are provided in private automobiles by trained drivers, no vans or buses.
Veterans must have signed up for a medical card at the Federal VA Hospital to benefit from the transportation service to and from the VA Facilities.

If you cannot see or walk and have impairments in this area, your doctor must certify your disability or medical condition. For permanent handicap, your medical doctor, chiropractor or eye doctor can fill out the DMV forms for this permit. If you have a temporary disability, use crutches or a wheelchair, again, your doctor must certify the temporary disability and your permit expires in six months. You may ask for another six month extension, ask for form B-225.
Anyone holding a valid Handicap Parking Permit and has a vehicle registered in their name, may apply for this plate. Applications are available at all Motor Vehicle Department offices
