A family vacation home for a half century, The Cottage at Westwoods is a unique refuge nestled into 35 wooded acres on the west coast of Orcas Island.  Featuring 800 feet of waterfront including approximately 175 feet of private beach, Westwoods has spectacular views and magical sunsets.  The house at the water's edge sleeps 4 to 8 people and is ideal for family retreats.  Westwoods is a perfect base for a variety of activities popular in the Pacific Northwest, including kayaking, hiking, fishing, biking, whale watching and sailing. Kids really enjoy the Westwoods beach, hunting for crabs and skipping stones.

Orcas Island has several quaint villages and is known for its artists' communities, particularly its pottery makers.  There are many local events worth seeing during the year, some of which can be found here.

But once you arrive, you may find your busy urban-made plans gradually drift away.  Grab a book, find a hammock, and settle into the Island atmosphere.  Time is different up here.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
