Hello Westwood Youth Soccer Kindergarten Parents!
Kindergarten soccer is all about the kids having fun while learning basic soccer skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. We do not keep score and do not play goalies. We want players to have fun without a lot of pressure. All coaches use great activities provided by our Director of Coaching. Our job as parents and spectators is to cheer them on and encourage them to have fun and do their best!
Players will receive their team assignments in late August. Players usually remain on the same team for the fall and spring.
This program is dependent on volunteers, and we encourage you to participate as a coach or assistant coach. No prior soccer experience is necessary—only commitment is to attend weekly games and bring your enthusiasm! If you are interested in volunteering, please email kindergarten@westwoodsoccer.org.
Important Dates:
Fall Season: The fall season runs from September 11, 2021 until November 6, 2021.
There will be no K Soccer held on Westwood Day, Saturday September 25.
There will be soccer scheduled on Columbus Day weekend.
Spring Season: The spring season starts in early April 2022 and extends through early June 2022.
Kindergarten soccer will be played at the SHEEHAN fields (510 Pond Street) on Saturdays: This season there are two separate sessions with a short break in between. Teams will be assigned to Session 1 or Session 2. There are no weekday practices.
Session 1 8:15 – 9:10 am
Session 2 9:25 – 10:20 am
** No make-up games will be played. If a game is canceled due to weather it will be posted here: Weekend Field Status by 7:30 am.

Kindergarten soccer is not a drop-off event. A parent or guardian should be present at all times.
All team and game information will be available in TeamSnap, the app used by Westwood Youth Soccer to track attendance and health check verifications.
Colored team t-shirts, a Size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, and shoe bands are provided to all players and should be used for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 seasons. Coaches will distribute these items prior to the first game.
Families should provide soccer socks which must be worn over shin guards.
Cleats are recommended but not required.
Each week, players must bring:
Labeled water bottle
Personal soccer gear bag
Soccer ball - Size 3, shin guards, and team t-shirt
Personal bottle of hand sanitizer
Please clear all trash from the fields at the conclusion of the game.
No dogs allowed on any of the Westwood Fields except registered Service Animals.
Kindergarten soccer is a full-year program. You do NOT need to re-register for the spring season.
Team players sit with their coaches on the sidelines.
Spectators sit on the opposite side of the marked field ONLY.

Parking for the Sheehan field is limited to certain areas on Pond Street, Oak Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets. Cars are not allowed to park on both sides of Pond Plain Road or Greenacre Road for any reason. Please try to walk if possible.
