Who We Are and What We Do
We are parents, family and friends of band students who help Mr. Dixson and the Westwood Middle school band.
While Mr. Dixson is a amazing band director who puts in long hours, he can’t do it alone. Volunteers are ESSENTIAL to create a wonderful, fun and top-notch band experience for the students.
What do we do? We volunteer our time and we raise money (see below).
Fundraising
Why we need to do fundraising?
Unfortunately, many essential band activities and materials are NOT funded by the schools, the county or the state (sad, but true). Many large, expensive instruments (tuba, bass, drums, bassoon, etc) that are essential to a top-notch band program must be purchased and maintained by the Band Boosters.
We have many fundraising events throughout the year to appeal to a broad spectrum. You don’t have to participate in all of them, but it really helps to participate as much as possible.
Please, please help to raise much needed funds!
If you don’t like fundraisers, we happily accept direct donations to Westwood Boosters by cash or check. All donations are GREATLY appreciated.
If you have any fundraising ideas–maybe fundraisers you have participated in and liked–please let us know. You do *not* have to run the fundraiser — even just an idea would be helpful.
