Commitment to Sustainability
Commitment to Sustainability
The Westin Osaka has obtained the Green Key certification, an international environmental certification system for the hotel industry.
Recognizing that preservation of the global environment is the most important issue shared by all humankind, the entire organization is committed to reducing environmental impact and preserving the natural environment.
Energy Reduction
Electricity in the building is generated by renewable energy from solar power generation.
We strive to reduce power consumption through a series of small steps, such as turning off lights in unoccupied rooms and unused areas, and adjusting curtains up and down to improve air conditioning efficiency.
Through the use of LED lighting and recycling of used soap, we are striving to reduce our carbon footprint.
Water Reduction
Water-saving showerheads have been installed in all guest rooms.
Information cards on our global environmental initiatives (no cleaning required card) are placed in easily identifiable locations above the beds. We encourage our guests to reduce their environmental impact by offering the option of not changing towels and linens on consecutive nights.
Waste Reduction
We have reduced the use of plastic products in all guest rooms and installed new separate trash cans.
Guests staying at the hotel can also contribute to recycling through easy trash separation.
In each restaurant, eco-friendly chopsticks that can be used repeatedly have been introduced to reduce the amount of disposable chopstick waste.
Responsible procurement
We continue to reduce stress on animals and protect marine resources by selecting cage-free eggs from chickens raised in a free-roaming environment and seafood caught in an environmentally friendly and properly managed fishery.
Each restaurant is preparing vegetarian menus, and vegetarian/vegan-friendly menus will be marked, aiming for an environment where everyone can enjoy their meals with peace of mind.
Green Activities
Our concierges provide information and guidance on sightseeing in the Osaka Castle Keep (Osaka Castle Park) and Nakanoshima area so that you can experience Osaka's culture, history, and rich nature.
We also offer shuttle buses, public transportation, and rental bicycles to create a sustainable sightseeing plan together with our guests.
Contributing to the Global Environment
We conduct cleanup activities around Shin-Umeda City and the Umeda area.
Aiming to maintain the local landscape and beautify the environment, we pick up litter and clean primarily along sidewalks, around plantings, and in public spaces. This contributes to creating a comfortable community for both our hotel guests and local residents.
